Hhhhheeeerroo!

So, had my computer for almost 6 months now. And jsut recently it started working pretty loud and ****, and I noticed on the right side of the keypad enter to numpad, is hot as ****. Not like dramaticly hot that it will just melt like a piece of plastic with volcano dripping ontop of it... But somewhat it's scaring me, usually It was below room temperature. Now it's uncomfortable having ur pawns resting there or fingers resting between typing..

What do you suggest I should do? I know the answer is cleaning, but how do I clean this beast?

Here's what I did guys.

I got some tools from a nearby shop, small screwdrivers etc and some gloves that repells static electricity or what the hell they were for.

-Opened the machine up and guess what I found clogged in the fan of the GPU exhaust?

....let me put this mildly, I giggled ironicly.

So, we have two cats, and one dog. All of them have demonly long hair.
Both cats sit on my computer from time to time, and behind it.

Basically "Why is made of warm if not for sits" type of strategy.

Same with the dog, tiny little bitch (female), and during this cold winter my computer was the new fireplace.
So to actually tell you what was clogged, if the above didn't give you a high chance of guessing.

I found cat and dog hair, looked like some ginger pubes because all of them are gingerly colored.
I rolled it to a ball and it's the size of a ****ing pingis ball.

AMAZING RIGHT?

Cats are now nowhere near my computer, includes the fuken chi...however you spell it. Spanish tiny miniature dog.

Escaped the RMA; I'm pro.

HOPE I DIDNT VOID THE WARRANTY OR I'LL SELL MY CATS AND DOG

😄 +1 to you!..

Just in case, I'd tell my wife's cat and my miniature schnauzer to stay away from the G74, too..

It's good to hear that you fixed your heat issue! 😄

The fact that the notebooks gets so hot sometimes, it can be because of such things like you have experienced lately.
Hair, dust, the nicotine colored stuff when you smoke a lot nearby the computer and so on is huge factors for such issues. Then many think their notebook is going to be dead soon, and throws it away, when it's perfectly good when you do some cleaning in the fans.

But again I'm glad you solved your issue 🙂

what about warranty, think I voided it? 😞

As long as there is no evidence that you've done anything I would not worry about it. If you ever have to send it in for warranty repair they will inspect it for damage to the problematic component but an unrelated cleaning should not have caused any visible warranty voiding evidence.

If you haven't removed any labels with "warranty voided" when you disassembled it, then I don't think so 🙂

I haven't been into that kind of issue (not with earlier notebooks from Asus, because I had the opportunity to come into direct contact with the fan in those computers ), but when the time comes to the same issue as you had, I probably have to do the same (disassemble it) to clean the fans.

So also I would appreciate one of the @asus people step in and tells us what happends with the warranty after fully disassamble.

Yeah I didnt remove any labels nor bad assemble, keyboard straightened out (little tiny dent) but it's visible from uptop, can be caused by anything. Dont know if it was caused during disassembly
