So recently my ROG Strix laptop has been shutting itself off randomly. It's only happened like twice, but each time it's just instant, no blue screen or anything. My friend had a similar issue with his tower PC, and it turned out his CPU was fried. Is the same thing happening to me? My Armoury crate settings are performance and standard

Hello,
I wouldn't say it's faulty as there are multiple reasons for such behavior, for example the Laptop will have various sensors to monitor temperature, if things got extremely hot to the point of reaching a critical limit you will get an instant shutdown. Power supplies also have shutdown features in the event of an overload or temperature trip.
What you need to do is find out or rule out if this is an issue with the CPU, GPU, motherboard (chipset / VRM), battery...so the easiest way is to monitor your temperatures.
Hardware monitor will record temperatures, use to to help. When open click on the + for all the sensor readings.

The idea is play a game, say for 20 mins and see how hot things get and post some screenshots.
Also what game did it crash?
Got anymore info on your laptop, exact model and CPU / GPU?
How long have you had it?
Has it ever been serviced?, internal heatsink, fans...
When it turns off, does it turn back on instantly or is there a delay?
