Maximum RAM on GL502VT, 12GB, 1 4GB Module Showing

Hi,

I purchssed a GL502VT with 12GB RAM (verified). The specs say the GL502VT maximum memory is 16GB.
Mine must have 8GB on the other side of the board or something.
Only a 4GB 1Rx8 PC4 - 2133 - SAO -11 card in a single slot is showing

Why can't I replace this with a 16GB card with identical specs bringing total RAM to 24GB?

Thanks in advance,
Ron

It has 8 GB on-board as in soldered to the motherboard.

Yes it does. My question is can I safely replace the removable 4GB with a 16GB module?

Issue resolved. I purchased an identifical spec'd 16GB stick, swapped it with the 4GB and the system recognized 24GB upon reboot.
I'm now able to running multiple VMs as with it's 17" ASUS ROG cousin.

I'm happy

Still interested in determining factors that can be gleamed from the BIOS regarding what the real maximum memory limitations are rather than trial and error.
