[MAIN\MERGED] Intel Skylake & Kaby Lake Hyperthreading Bug

pepper_chico
Level 7
It has been confirmed that Intel's Skylake/Kaby Lake hyper-threading can present serious issues that can be fixed by a BIOS/UEFI update that targets Intel processor errata KBL095, KBW095 or the similar one for Kaby Lake processor.

Any plans for such update to come? On Kaby Lake it seems the most safe route at the moment is to simply disable hyper-threading until ASUS provides a new BIOS that addresses this. On Skylake there's the option on ArchLinux side, for example, to install extra/intel-ucode to get microcode updates since there's a fix in revision 0xb9/0xba and later. Windows doesn't have a microcode update for this yet, afaik.

BA dated 4/9/2017 from the above. Where did you see BA as being dated 6/2017?

i'm just gonna be doubly cautious and ask for mod verification before running and updating my stuff with that.

yeah i dont recommend you do it, because you are a normal PC user and that mostly you dont need to do stuff that needs techie or more advance user. my advice if you realy have the urge to do it just take it to your local tech shop let him do it for you, safer and easier for you, they mostly know what they do.

Yeah, haihane. You computer illiterate mutt. Who did you think you are being doubly cautious? Who did you pay to type this for you? How did you even turn your PC on? Can you even read? You better take your PC (that's short for personal computer because you obviously don't know) to Best Buy where they have quality expert technicians who are capable of updating your hardware with the required software. But whatever you do, DON'T DO IT YOURSELF...You might kill your dog or catch pneumonia.
I'd like to deploy my troops in her country.

Perhaps, but it's still over the line for this forum. Please change it.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

done.
perhaps that did go overboard, even if it was a retaliatory response for initial provocation.
me bad.
