Live update killed my USB ports

Griffin

Stupidly I used live update and installed all the 7 updates for the G75 to then end up loosing the usb ports which were fine prior

The error in device manager is:
A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)

This is for both of the intel 7 series / C216 chipset family usb enhanced host controller 1E26 and 1E2D as well as the intel usb 3.0 extensible host controller

I have downloaded both the chipset and usb drivers from ASUS site and both ran the installer and manually tried to update to no avail

The USB works till it hit windows and wont run anything including hard drives and mice

I also had the same issue, Either of those previouse sites give you access to the latest USB 3.0 drivers, however when reloading the drivers I get the error, "your system does not meet the minimum specifications" which is why the original update probably failedin the first place!
WTF!
How about some help here guys. The readme says this, however the install doesnt specify where the system is not being recognised by the new driver.
A Little help here guys, ASUS, INTEL? Kind of Sad to get Shafted after laying out $2.5K

yo guys! I'm not sure if anyone is still having this problem but I just came across this thread after trying to figure out a solution. I uninstalled the ASUS USB quick charger application from the control panel and BLAMO! It worked like a charm! I ran the ASUS LIVEupdate like a fool and that's what caused it.

Many thanks from me too - Uninstalling USB Charger Plus did the trick - Only found your advice on page 2 so wasted 2 hours trying fixes on page 1 - Maybe it could be moved up the order somehow. No more live updates for me......

I also tried the above patch, didn't work, even after uninstalling the existing driver first.

UPDATE: As per earlier comment, uninstall the USB Charger program and it resets all USB as it was. Boom!

LIve update installed an 'updated' version of usb supercharger plus (2.0.9). That update will hijack your usb drivers and they won't work. Go to the Asus website, find your computer and and OS and manually download the correct update for the supercharger plus under Utilities. The newest update on the website is more recent and fixes this problem.

All of the fixes above did't work for me, and I was one of those lucky people whose windows system recovery failed as well. I spent 2 hours on the phone and chatting online with asus tech support to no avail. They recommended all kinds of crazy solutions that definitely weren't going to work...

Then I finally decided to use my Advanced Uninstaller program to completely remove that asus usb power program that had apparently been installed when I did the live update, and everything returned to normal! It took a restart and a lot of waiting as it sorted out a ton of USB drivers and downloaded driver updates it supposedly needed (although I thought I had all of these installed already), and then it magically kicked in and started working just fine.

Good luck!

I've asked them to remove the update our end asap.

Are those drivers from Intel or our own website from the G55/75 product page?
