Love it but it has many annoying little issues (fully updated with Win Update and MyASUS official app, BIOS 311):
[COMMON] Speaker sounds randomly muted 'till I reboot with no error in Device Manager, no icons with X and no crashes, but speakers simply do not play audio anymore (headphones still work). Only solution a reboot. Totally random in normal desktop usage.
[COMMON] Sometimes randomly after 2 days of sleep and resume, USB-C DisplaPort won't detect anymore the attached (but turned off) monitor when I turn it on. Have to reinsert DisplayPort cable (8K high quality). To be exact it happens after Windows Hibernation. (SOLVED with BIOS 315 ✔️)
[MY UNIT] Loud coil whine with the test from GPU_Caps_Viewer: 3D Demos/Vulkan 2 Tessellation. Tested in real games or other 3D Demos and coil whine is minimal and acceptable though...
[COMMON] Random internal screen (desktop usage) fast-flickerings (0.1sec, very fast almost unnoticeable, mostrly in the upper portion of the screen)... looks like AMD iGPU unstable frequency (?). This seems a well known AMD iGPU issue reported in many forums with previous AMD CPU models. Waiting for AMD Adrenalin driver/BIOS updates hoping for a fix... 🤞🏻
[COMMON] No S3 Standby state in the BIOS!! Forced S0 only (a sort of MS hybrid standby 2.0) with fans quietly active (???). You can check it with powercfg /a
from admin Cmd prompt. Microsoft calls it "Modern Standby", which is good only for office workstations, maybe. We need S3 (classic Standby) instead.
[COMMON] Standby set as: after 10 min screen off and after 45 min standby; when I return to the laptop after 1-2 hours I find the keyboard leds on and system freezed including stuck white mouse pointer over a black screen (!?). I've found a workaround from admin prompt simply forcing hibernate after 30 min and setting screen off and standby both after 10 min. It didn't happen anymore.
Power settings commands (admin):powercfg /x hibernate-timeout-ac 0
(default 0, AC is for PSU mode) powercfg /x hibernate-timeout-dc 60
(default 60 min = 3600 sec, DC is for battery mode) powercfg HIBERNATE ON
(force-enable Hibernation if not present)powercfg /q
(to show current idle settings)✍🏻 IMPORTANT: to report issues with Armoury Crate to ASUS support, follow this post (create the log and fill out the form!): https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/armoury-crate/armoury-crate-v5-7-6-0-amp-v5-7-9-0-aura-creator-v3-7-6-...

I have unfortunately to admit that @Inpair remarks are correct, in that it is difficult to find now a way to avoid crashes while laptop sleeps for a long time
The OP remarks, notably point 6, do not work anymore, with current BIOS, W11 and other updates.
Mixing former S3 capabilities, like Hibernation or Fast Startup, with Modern Standby, will lead directly to crash while sleeping, and especially when laptop wakes up by itself with black screen, to perform various tasks. If Windows updates are performed at this time, then you are good for a crash, or a laptop shutdown (!!) by itself
The best way I found to stabilize a little bit more, is to completely disable S3 capabilities, so that they don't mess up Modern Standby: powercfg /h off will leave only Modern Standby active (turns both Hibernate off and Fast Startup off).
Note this is the original W11 setting, after 1st installation... This setup by Microsoft is probably here not by chance... changing that to re-enable S3 things, makes laptop finally more unstable

I can confirm pt. 6 doesn't work at all. How I managed to somehow fix dead device upon wake up is:
1. Enable only hibernation, disable modern standby and fast startup
2. Install Powertoys, enable Always Awake forever without turning screen off
3. Close the lid when you need the device to sleep
This is the only "solution" that has ever worked for me at all. Nothing else works, including all the posts mentioned before ("stable combinations" and etc).

Strange... This "should" be enough to be finally working fine:
1. Disable Fast startup (I always forgot to say that because it's Default for me, just like setting UAC to max level to confirm every Admin action 😊). Enable hibernation. Disable modern standby with
reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power /v PlatformAoAcOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0
2. set Sleep/Hibernation timings through the old Control Panel > System and security > Power options > Change advanced power settings. Repeat this for every power profile.
Try with Hibernation after 30mins AC and 20mins DC, Sleep after 20 and 10mins.
Reboot after setup.

Hello
I recently purchased the Asus Rog G164JVR model. Even though my processor is i9-14900HX, I also encountered the same errors. I read almost all the pages one by one and after following the suggested solutions, I think my problem seems to have been solved. My problem was mostly freezing. This is resolved for now.
I installed the G-Helper application mentioned in the topic. However, I use ultimate + turbo mode while playing games. What do you think should be the most reliable G-Helper fan setting for this, and how should I adjust the CPU and GPU values? (GPU Max 140W)
I may have written the topic in the wrong place, I'm new to the forum, sorry in advance.

I use Win10 Pro.
Personally I get better results and stability from Win10. I had re-installed Win10 and Win11 a few times and I am not willing to go Win11 again for now.
I have disabled modern standby and use only hibernation. No random reboots, power offs, black screens or anything like that for the last 3 months.
I do not have driver issues - or at least nothing noticeable. I have installed everything from ASUS. I am using Armoury Crate.
Just need to note that I have changed the WiFi card with the Intel recommended one 1.5 months ago. I did not have the issues before or after the change as well so I changed it just for good measure 🙂
Mine is G733PY with AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, 4090 and I have upgraded it to 64GB RAM and 2x2TB NVMes.
RAM and the extra disks are from Crucial.
I use it only with an external monitor that is 3440x1440 at 120Hz, using Display port cable by Belkin. Using the right USB-C for display port.
I think that is all.
If someone has good recommendations on how to undervolt it, that would be great! I often play on lower settings just to quite it down and reduce the temps which is not ideal considering the price of this thing .... I use the IETS IV GT 626 as cooling pad, at 1200 rpm the most as above this it becomes really noisy.
Edit:
A week after my comment I got the random reboot .... So yeah, not cool. Started using G-Helper as well.

Hello,
I'm having an intermittent problem where the laptop GPU fan is going full pelt but reads fan speed 0.
If I use a custom fan profile to set everything to lowest fan at each temperature point it eventually recovers and starts reading GPU fan speed values again.
WTF is going on?

It happens to almost everyone. Nothing to worry about. It speeds up to maximum RPM and goes down to normal speed randomly. Even G-Helper can't fix that. When it happens if you set Normal/Turbo mode on G-Helper and go back Silent mode again, the RPM will go back to normal in approximately 30 seconds.

This happens to me more than I want it to happen. Thing is, it happens ONLY after the device wakes up from any sort of sleep like hibernation or whatever. It never ever happened to me mid-runtime or after normal startup from a shutdown state.
Nah, it happens after normal startup too, even with fast startup disabled. Oh boy, never buying asus again for real.
