Love it but it has many annoying little issues (fully updated with Win Update and MyASUS official app, BIOS 311):
[COMMON] Speaker sounds randomly muted 'till I reboot with no error in Device Manager, no icons with X and no crashes, but speakers simply do not play audio anymore (headphones still work). Only solution a reboot. Totally random in normal desktop usage.
[COMMON] Sometimes randomly after 2 days of sleep and resume, USB-C DisplaPort won't detect anymore the attached (but turned off) monitor when I turn it on. Have to reinsert DisplayPort cable (8K high quality). To be exact it happens after Windows Hibernation. (SOLVED with BIOS 315 ✔️)
[MY UNIT] Loud coil whine with the test from GPU_Caps_Viewer: 3D Demos/Vulkan 2 Tessellation. Tested in real games or other 3D Demos and coil whine is minimal and acceptable though...
[COMMON] Random internal screen (desktop usage) fast-flickerings (0.1sec, very fast almost unnoticeable, mostrly in the upper portion of the screen)... looks like AMD iGPU unstable frequency (?). This seems a well known AMD iGPU issue reported in many forums with previous AMD CPU models. Waiting for AMD Adrenalin driver/BIOS updates hoping for a fix... 🤞🏻
[COMMON] No S3 Standby state in the BIOS!! Forced S0 only (a sort of MS hybrid standby 2.0) with fans quietly active (???). You can check it with powercfg /a
from admin Cmd prompt. Microsoft calls it "Modern Standby", which is good only for office workstations, maybe. We need S3 (classic Standby) instead.
[COMMON] Standby set as: after 10 min screen off and after 45 min standby; when I return to the laptop after 1-2 hours I find the keyboard leds on and system freezed including stuck white mouse pointer over a black screen (!?). I've found a workaround from admin prompt simply forcing hibernate after 30 min and setting screen off and standby both after 10 min. It didn't happen anymore.
Power settings commands (admin):powercfg /x hibernate-timeout-ac 0
(default 0, AC is for PSU mode) powercfg /x hibernate-timeout-dc 60
(default 60 min = 3600 sec, DC is for battery mode) powercfg HIBERNATE ON
(force-enable Hibernation if not present)powercfg /q
(to show current idle settings)✍🏻 IMPORTANT: to report issues with Armoury Crate to ASUS support, follow this post (create the log and fill out the form!): https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/armoury-crate/armoury-crate-v5-7-6-0-amp-v5-7-9-0-aura-creator-v3-7-6-...

Please can you test in Standard mode (Armoury Crate) using both APU+NVidia to watch some videos on YT for 10-15 min with Edge and tell me if it reboots all of a sudden like this for you too? The gpu icon in the tray should stay grey (APU only) while at the desktop.
Have to be sure my unit is faulty and not just a common driver issue on this pc... Thank you

I downgraded Adrenalin from 23.4.1 to 23.3.2. System is stable but flicker problem still exists 😞 Watched videos over 1 hr now in standard and no reboot, all is ok (except of random flicker issue...)

So I'm the only one with this kind of random reboots while doing nothing special in APU mode... sigh...

USB-C
In this fresh review she also says USB-C ports have issues at 6:46:

Curious what bios did she use, I tested both usb-c ports, to one is still connected mice, and did not observe any disconnections.

I don't think low powered mouse is a good testing condition though... The other day I tried a backup restore from Macrium Reflect 8 using external drive and it disconnected EVERY TIME! BIOS 315
I measured voltage from the ports and seemed right (4.98-5.06 most of the time) so it could be an AMD chipset issue. In this case there's a hope a new BIOS in the future can address this problem.

I know. That's why I also tested rear ports with corsair voyager 500GB, Sandisk extreme pro 128GB and WD HDD 2TB without any issue. Can you return your unit and change it for another one? I have only 5 days to decide to keep mine or return. This flicker drives me crazy and coil whine is audiable especially on silent profile when fans stay at their lows.... 😐

still have your Asus? There is a hotfix regarding usb issues: ASMedia USB3.2 Firmware update tool to download from official Asus support page: https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-scar-17-2023-series/helpdesk_download/

Good news! Unfortunately no, since mine was clearly a factory defect (random reboots probably due to cpu...). Will re-buy this laptop in the future if all annoying problems gets fixed, including flickering screen! Please keep this thread updated 🙏

This didn't fix the USB problems. I did a full reinstall, noticed this update, installed it after the clean install, and still getting disconnects randomly every 10m or so with my USB-C hub. I think what this 'fixed' was the failure to wake from sleep due to USB power states. Those issues appear to be gone from my laptop now, but I still get crashes when waking up due to Adrenaline.
I know the issue isn't the hub because I use it with a 12900H laptop just fine.
