I want to upgrade ROG Strix G18 (2023) RAM to 5600mhz in BIOS

I want Asus officials to support this issue. I want to upgrade ROG Strix G18 (2023) RAM to 5600 mhz. Please do a bios update for it. Other brands allow up to 6000 MHz.

I know this way, usually it mainly applies to desktop PCs, this is the first time I hear from you that it also applies to laptops, so I'll try it out. But if there is a JDEC or XMP option on a laptop, it will be convenient, because you know, Laptops are not designed to be disassembled as easily as PCs.

Scar 18 vs Scar 16 are similar in configuration and are both ASUS' most advanced product lines, and today both have released the latest bios version .312, so it can't be said that it only applies to Scar18. , same bios, same life and same configuration i9-13980hx? 2 of you can check the price and you'll see, they're the same size, just different sizes

I don't want to blame you or something like that... It was just a thought of mine that the 16 and 18 models just use different mainboards for their laptops ( in case of their nearly close naming ). As I have no 16 model here and didn't disassabled my 18 model yet completly I can't tell you if they're using the same mainboards for the 2 different sized models... If so, you're pretty right 👍

I received my BIOS although thru the Windows Update ( just looking into MyASUS it reminds me that there's a new version awaiting updated before I restarted my system and updated automatically ). 

I just want to figure out, what possibly should have gone wrong 🤔

Therefore I gave you 3 options to figure out, what the problem is. First of all, you can change your RAM into the stock once delivered with this model. They should be single sided samsung modules ( even if you ordered 16GB or 32GB model ) and now have to work in 5600MT/s mode if the update is working well. Second option: get the right bios file from the official website and flash it again via EZ Flash in BIOS to confirm that there was no problem while the whole update process. Third option ( didn't work well for me the last time I tried it ), try a hardreset of your laptop. This will set all changes made in the BIOS to stock and the laptop tries to train the RAM modules to their max supported speeds again.

In option 1 you can figure out if your RAM is badly programmed and won't be recognized correctly by your laptop. Or it's just falsely labled as 5600MT/s and it's sadly / truely only a 4800MT/s kit.

In option 2 you'll get a freshly installed BIOS which also uses training on your RAM in the end of the update process. So this can be helpful if something went wrong with the main update. I my opinion the easiest way without disassambling the whole backplate and change the RAM.

Option 3 is for the lazy people but like I told you before, I had no success on this. My laptop won't start for a couple of times and I was happy when he comes back to live but nothing changes. I did this option on BIOS 309 in hope that they implemented the RAM timings in this version. As my update on 312 worked well and the RAM speed is up to it's supported speed, I never tried this option again.

Last thing came into my mind right now while I'm writing that stuff. It could be helpful ( if you're undervolted your mashine ) to set this option to "0" or "disabled" for the update process.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and kindness, but all is not resolved. Ram I bought full seal and correct Part Number from Samsung (https://semiconductor.samsung.com/dram/module/sodimm/m425r4ga3bb0-cwm/) with correct JDEC information. Since I bought the machine, there is no BIOS version that my machine can update the ram bus on 4800Mhz with the ram kit in use. One more news worth hoping after I worked with the head of service of ASUS Vietnam, ASUS HQ in Taiwan is working again with Intel to optimize Ram performance. We have no choice but to wait for the next BIOS update (maybe 313 or 314, 3xx, ect bla bla bla) that can support higher bus and correct ram code we need

I looked all through the thread here and find some pictures you made earlier. The interesting thing is, that O_2_N has replied a screenshot from his 16GB modules which are quite the same part number then your 32GB modules, and they're running in 5600MT/s. As we look on the samsung page ( which is realy reserved in detailed informations ), the only difference between the modules is the double ranked system of the 64GB kit. So theoretically it has to come to the same results of our SK Hynix chips used on the Kingston modules ( which is 5200MT/s so far ). 

However, one thing caught my eye. HWInfo isn't reading the 2800 timings for the samsung modules, but... As O_2_N can run his modules in 5600MT/s as shown, it can't be the conclusion for that 'cause CPU-Z ist showing the timings for 2800 in JEDEC readings in both of your screenshots. Also the production date of your modules are realy close to each other, so that I wouldn't expect some "older" or "badly programmed" chips / controllers in here.

After reading all of this stuff, I sadly ran out of ideas right now. 😞 Even Ahmed92 told us he gets the speed upgrade as well which is slightly more confusing to me ( if he uses the same samsung modules like you do ).

I'm using the Kingston Fury Impact 64GB (2x32GB).

When I contacted Asus few weeks ago regarding the downclock speed issue, they suggested me to use Samsung 32x2 GB kit since it is "apparently" officially supported at maximum speed. Funny is that this kit is the one that is facing problems now, not able to hit 5200MHz, when their response indicated that it works at 5600MHz even before the v312 firmware update.

sad news with me, Scar16 (2023) still 4800mhz when run with Samsung 2x32GB 😞  bios.312 G634JZ

******. When I contacted Asus regarding the speed issue a while ago, they told me Samsung RAMS are the only ones that can run at 5600MHz with 65GB of RAM. Seems like that wasn't true and it can't even hit 5200MHz.
