Hey there,
Here is the problem. I have a slightly older ROG laptop from Asus. I believe the model is Strix G7733ZW, acquired around 2022. Yesterday, all of a sudden the laptop's display started to work incorrectly, showing consistently a large number of artifacts and tearing even when just idling in Windows 11. I have a secondary monitor which is quite old, connected through the HDMI port (intermediated by a VGA to HDMI adapter) which wasn't showing any issues at all. This secondary display connects to the NVidia GPU, while the main display is connected to the integrated Intel graphics. Upon investigating, I realized that the issue only comes up at high refresh rates. The main display defaulted to 360 Hz from the very first boot after updating the OS to Windows 11 and has run without any issues since. Now it only works properly if I set its refresh rate manually to 60 Hz. As the secondary monitor is quite old, it only supports 60 Hz, but has never shown any signs of working incorrectly.
I'm unsure if it's a physical or software problem. My drivers are all updated regularly from Windows Update. I'll probably end up sending it to a service if the issue persists, but I thought I'd inquire online as well.
Thank you for your time!
