GL752VW died after connecting HDMI

Hi,

I have a GL752VW notebook which has been working perfectly.

I went to plug in an HDMI cable for a second monitor and as soon as I did the notebook died. As in sudden power down without any proper shutdown.

Now the situation is that the power button does nothing. No lights flash, no bios, absolutely nothing at all. This is plugged in or on battery.

When the external power cable is connected none of the indicator lights (Charging, power connected etc.) are lit up.

Asus had me do a reset by holding the power button for 60 seconds. They called it a hard reset but as the battery was not removed
(it is internal and warranty is voided if I remove it) but still nothing.

I am going to have to RMA it but I was wondering if anyone else had seen this behavior. All I was doing was plugging in an HDMI cable
which I had done many times before.

Hello. How was the topic ended? I have a similar problem, but after connecting the SSD to the M.2 port.

I left the machine for a couple of weeks before I got around to prepping it to send in. By this time the battery had completely died. I tried it again and found it to be working fine again. Shame you can't just pull the battery on this model.

So after the battery was completely discharged, did the laptop start working? 🙂 That's true with this battery. I also have a laptop under warranty I can not remove the battery. I sent yesterday a laptop to the site so I will see what they say ...

Yes after the baterry was completely dead the laptop worked fine again. Not sure if it would have worked for your issue. Just know I'm noy buyin a laptop with a removable battery. I like the laptop but not sure I would have bought it if I had know it wasn't removable.
