Hello everyone.
Last week i bought my first gaming laptop - Asus Rog Strix Scar GL703VM. Laptop is very good, i run all the game in High/Ultra in 50/more FPS. But its problem with it loudness.
I try to undervolt CPU/GPU with guide for GL702VM i found on this forum. I make it down the temp about 10-15°C and its good for me. But maybe someone can told me that is any solution to make a fan going a little(or more) bit quiet?
Also i think about change the thermal paste on CPU/GPU but I am afraid of losing the guarantee.
Everytime i launch any game the fans going to 100% and loudnes is about 60dB (checked by android app)
I use laptop also to graphic and when i launch Photoshop it also get fan at 100% power and i can't work on night when my girlfriend tried to sleep 😛
Could anyone can told me some solution what i have to do to make it quiter?
I apologize my for spelling and mistakes 🙂

if I can give you some advice .. make money back and buy a laptop that is not an asus gaming ... you will always have problems with this GL series ... doing the undervolt you already lost some performances ... it makes no sense to buy a PC at a price for certain performances if you then have to limit the perfomances.

I bought this laptop in mediamarkt nl and i not really sure that is possibilty to bring laptop to shop and make money back. Cause what can i say to them? "I bought this laptop two weeks ago but its too loud for me. Give me my money."? Tomorrow i going to the shop and asked for it. Maybe i found some other laptops with quiter fan system for this money.

EDIT: Maybe you give me info about what model could i take to 2000€?

Hi,

If you check the notebook reviews, all of the laptops currently are in the same category. They are loud on high performance, no workaround. Whoever says other brands are better, thats a lie.
In fact, if you see the reviews, other laptops like dell's alienware even gets hot also, not just loud. And they cost more.

I bought yesterday a GL503VS, it is certainly loud, I will try to do something about it as well, but it was not even getting warm! The GPU were below 80C with performance settings on fan speed.

The quality of this particular laptop is VERY good, and the screen looks awesome (putting aside of the TERRIBLE Backlight bleed that is atrocious to be honest, I don't understand how Asus and all other brands wont push the IPS market to fix this damned issue).

I was thinking about buying HP omen for similar (even cheaper) price than this laptop, however for that laptop the screen kind of crap, low brightness, worse quality IPS, and a LOT of heating, for similar loudness.

I'm telling you, stick to your Asus, you get good service, replacement in case you get issues later.

I agree, not perfect and I blame all the brands out there, the Max-Q design should be completely standard now, mid-range budget should already have that design, yet they still not implementing it on wide range of models but only on high-end machines that cost a fortune.

Thanks for your reply. I made decision that i stay with my GL703VM. In few days i'll change the thermal paste, update bios and maybe do clean install of windows. I hope that this help a bit.
