[GL703VM] FPS drops in-game but GPU temps do not get above 65C

Hi. I've got a strange issue where sometimes my game FPS drops significantly which should mean that my GPU can't keep up but when I check the temps in the ROG center I see that it doesn't reach more than 65C. Fans are also not running at maximum. This leads me to believe that there is perhaps a limit set somewhere that doesn't allow my GPU to perform as much as it can but I don't know where to look for that. I'm running a GTX 1060. Does anyone have any ideas what I can try? Thanks.

Hi, I have a similar issue with a gl503vm. After a couple of minutes, fps drop to 20 and stay there until I close the game and reopen it, there it happens again and so on.
One time with both fans stuck at max speed I tested some games and no fps drop. But under normal conditions, the fans barely kick in when this problem starts.
The only workaround I found is to lock voltage in MSI afterburner. 0.7V with 1400Mhz as a flat line in the curve. With that temps max at 70°C and I can game with no issue, like doom eternal high settings 60fps for example, I'm losing some performance though, basically GPU boost but I can't increase GPU voltage without this fps drop. You should try this and see if it helps.

GPU driver from device manger:

NVIDIA 03/Apr/20
Driver version: 445.87 (26.21.14.4587)

Not sure what you mean by modes? It's in high performance energy mode if that's what you're looking after.

So the issue only happen under performance mode?
If you switch mode, or switch to another mode than switch back to performance mode,
would the issue disappear?

I have performance mode set all the time. I tried switching between balance and performance but it happens regardless in which mode it's on.
