GL703GE Touchpad issue (jitters/slowdowns/random-movement)

Hello,

I'm really liking my new asus gl703ge (ex-Gigabyte/ex-Macbook). The only issue I have is the touchpad having jitters about 30% of the time. I can't pinpoint the cause just yet.

I've already reinstalled all the drivers and smart gesture stuff (although it's not needed). I've also opened the laptop up for inspection and nothing negative that stands out.

Any tips? I don't want to send it for replacement as I feel like this is a minuscule issue for what the laptop offers (undervolted and getting 1265 on Cinebench r15 multicore tests!!)

You aren't alone. I experience this with my new GL703GM-DS74.

I did a fresh non-OEM install of Windows, and I still get the same issue. It lasts about 5-10 seconds when it hits, and the trackpad seems like it registers only a fraction of the movements you want it to take.

Just a heads up, my trackpad issues have worsened. In my case, the trackpad would stop functioning entirely, even in Linux or in the BIOS. Then the trackpad will come back on and work for a few minutes, only to repeat the behavior. I'm having to get this laptop RMA'd to fix my trackpad.

New bios update 308. My touchpad issues seem to have resolved themselves for now.

Will update this thread if I start hitting them again.

I am still having this issue on my GL503GE. I have the 308 update for the BIOS and all the latest drivers but the trackpad suddenly starts behaving as if it were possessed by the demons of terrible ELAN drivers. It lasts a few seconds and ruins my mood for the day and then it starts working well again. ASUS has a lot of driver-related issues and this gets added to the list with battery, Aura core and hotkey issue.

I've had this issue on both 15" SCAR models (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?103801-GL503VS-DH74-touchpad-issue). Still waiting on a fix.

Got the same issue on my new gl703ge.... I've tried to uninstall the Asus driver precision, but didn't find any improvement. What shall we do? I really like to use my laptop with the touchpad, it's way more fast than the mouse.

Hello, I realize this was quite awhile ago but I am having same issues with my Touchpad on my GL703GE Asus laptop and it is driving me up the wall. Just wondering if you figured out how to fix yours?
