GL702VM Laptop running hot idle/under heavy use

MikkoAA
Level 7
Just got new laptop with GTX 1060 graphics card and having issues with temperature. Can't be dust, very not likely lacking thermal paste.

On idle:
CPU 50 degree (Celsius), GPU 52-56 degree where I'm basically just having this page open, steam window open (just showing my game list in background, no moving parts) and that's about it.

On heavy load:
GPU clocks about 85 degrees didn't check CPU but I bet it's lower than that.

I've got Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility installed with -0.135 v core voltage offset.
I've got MSI Afterburner installed running preset settings found from https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?89061-GL702VM-amp-similar-Solution-to-Performance-issues-O...

I was able to run Dark Souls 3 maxed out fine (at least seemed so, although I got DS crash after going back and forward between windows).

Trying to reduce clockspeed of GPU didn't seem to do anything but raise temperatures in game 1-2 degrees.

Any tips?

And my house is about 25 degree inside right now so I SHOULD get somewhere similar temperatures right? Something like 30 degrees in idle?

Is there way to reduce power consumption on lower load and fix heavy load temperatures somewhere 60-70 degrees?

I have the same issues with heat.
As i said somewhere before, i had MSI GS70 Stealth before. It was made of aluminum and it became HOT AS HELL (about 90 degrees on GPU which affect aluminum body, so i couldn't touch it on heavy load at all), but it was thinner than GL702VM.
So, this is a price for mobility, low weight and much more power in gaming/working. It's not a fault of ASUS, it's just regular physical process. We can reduce temperatures a little bit, but nothing more.

I have an msi ge62 with a 1060 that hits max only high 60s while gaming with cooler boost not even on. High 50s though while gaming is the norm on my laptop. The laptop is very thin but still relatively cool. Much more so than the Asus strix line. This is definitely an issue with cooling on the Asus side. Someone over at notebook check even tested kaby lake 502vm model and the lid when open adds an extra 6c to temps just cause it is blocking vents. So that right there is part of the issue. The other is of course internal cause many other thin laptops don't have such heating issues.

I didn't see any difference between DS3 after all (where I previously did see Heroes of the Storm run 70 degrees without ever heating higher).

So updating to most recent drivers even on beta stage don't seem to solve issue.

Something INTERESTING I noticed that I could run everything maxed out. Flat 60 fps.

Then I run everything minimum, exact same 60 fps and my CPU/GPU is still up to 85 degrees.

Shouldn't they go down in temperature usage as they need less calculating power? Like my CPU/GPU were showing 30-50% performance and still 85 degrees temperatures.

I guess the game is just poorly optimized or the drivers are just flawed on the dx11 or something...

Hi guys GL702VM owner here. Ambient temp 27
Idle temps around 45 to 50c
Load temps (max) 84c *gta v. High,
70 to 77 c just cause 3 ultra
I also have XTU and Msi afterburner with the settings for 1060
I don't see any lag or throttling even at max temps
I removed the dust tapes below it and changed the refresh rate to 60HZ plus air-conditioned room and a cooler Master SF-17 cooler. It only made around 7 to 10c difference.
