Gl702VM disk runnig at 100%

Bought a new GL702VM running windows 10 64bit. Processor intel 7700HQ
Theres no SSD, only a 1TB SATA HDD
Have been experiencing lots of slowness even with no programs running. Noticed that disk space was 99-100 with no active programs
Have looked for solutions online and tried various things
1. Disabling windows search and superfetch does nothing
2. Did not have chrome or skype installed then. Installing chrome made no differences
3. Changed settings to stop microsoft sending tips and tricks
4. Uninstalled mcafee**
5. Run chkdsk which took like 4h
6. I have also seen there was talk of some issue with *windows 10 and storAHCI sys. My comp didnt have this
7. Changing power plan to high power had small improvement in speed. But even opening start menu takes 3 secs

This was before i even installed anything, other than windows update which took 5-6h, winzip and sodapdf(which i have unistalled)

Anyone have any suggestions for me? Much appreciated*

Did you use chkdsk /r command? Or just /f?

I'm actually experiencing the same things as you(and same unit except I have 6700). And I found some "xxx has a bad block" error in event logs. I temporarily fixed it by running chkdsk /r. But after a week, the bad blocks came back although this time it's not very unresponsive unlike before. Although it still is noticeable when the game goes into loading.

I will be trying to fix it again by running chkdsk(probably in the weekends) and share my results but in the meantime I'll follow this thread.

I did chkdsk /r
Did not help at all

I tried a factory reset subsequently . Disabled all the optional plugins including the AV at the windows first start
Also did not connect to net so that it will not update
The first run already shows disk 100
Still looking for a solution. Will update if i find one that works*

What SSD do you have?
Mine is a "238GB Micron_1100_MTFDDAV256TBN"
I used Speccy, from Piriform:
https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download

Did you see what was the program causing this in Windows's Task Manager?

I brought it in to the service centre and they replaced the HDD for me. Theres no ssd, only a sata hdd
That solved the problem. But it definitely was not a hardware issue
When i did system recovery with the new hdd, tthe problem recurred and the only wqy to solve it temporarily was to boot in diagnostic *mode with minimal processes running. However this rendered the com unusuable as things like the audio n net wouldnt work as well. I have been trying to isolate the problem with little luck so far

The problem is that task manager does not show a specific task to kill. Each process is like 0-0.2 percent yet it runs at 100 disk*

So I tried running chkdsk again, but after more than 24 hours, it still wasn't finished. I gave up trying to fix my HDD and installed an SSHD. So far it seems to work fine, my disk usage doesn't reach 100%.

I'm not sure about your problem though if it's not hardware related. Have you tried updating all your drivers?

I have triend updating everything before rolling back to preinstalled state. Does not change anything
Brought in to service centre n now they say its the wifi (which i highly doubt - i did a reset without connecting to qny network n the problem persisted). Still waiting for them to fix the issue after 5 days*

I've had several friends and clients with this issues lately. It isn't a hardware problem, it's a bug with Windows 10 that occurs (I think) sometime after the Creator update has been installed.

So far a wipe and reload has fixed the issue for everyone that I've worked with. So annoying.
