GL702VM-db71...black screen on startup

From cold boot or waking from hibernation, my GL702VM is black screening... power button, keyboard, and power led lights up and stays lit... but black screen. No splash screen, nothing. HDD led shows no activity. Pressing the power button powers everything off immediately. Pressing the power button again, and it boots up normally... spalsh screen to windows, all lights normal.

I have the same problem on my 4 days old asus gl502vm, the problem appeared after my windows updates. Will try to turn fast boot off as well and see if it helps. Thank you for posting this.*

I think you have to turn off fast startup NOT fast boot. I have turned off both and I'm currently checking if the issue still exists.

This issue is really annoying because I went to service as was recommended by ASUS support and they haven't fixed it. As result during test in service it works fine, they accepted it for repair and they only updated BIOS and say that everything is fixed and if you have any complaints then reproduce problem with engineer and then we will maybe accept it again for repair. Showing video with reproduction of problem is not enough for them.

My Asus GL702VM after *boot, no display just black screen - When I plug the AC Adapter into the laptop Charge led lights ON, when I push on the power button Power led lights ON, HDD light ON, Start boot and After that there is no display just a black 8453584536screen.*

Did anyone ever find a working solution to this ongoing, persistent problem with ASUS laptops?
My ASUS ROG Zephyrus M GM501GS has had this fault from day 1.
I've tried numerous things, without success.

had the exact same "problem" since the beginning...
after googling a bit I found that it might have to do with "fast startup". After turning this off, I didn't experience the issue anymore and the system still loads up just as fast (maybe 1s slower since the ROG logo is showing up)...
Seems to be a problem with WIN10 and Hibernate / Fast Startup rather than ASUS

I might have misunderstood but if I am correct I think the display turns on normally after restarting via the Power Button once the problem shows up..
Afaik this has nothing to do with any of the things you mentioned

/edit: Also I think that I read somewhere that it might be a problem with the GL702VM only using the NVIDIA card and not the internal graphics card. Windows might try to use the internal one first which probably isn't even connected to the display (since no Optimus for G-SYNC)?... I think something along these lines was written somewhere but idk

I have tried turning off the "fast startup" just today. I will try to reply the result here after a week. But for initial testing it works.

Few hours ago and after 3 weeks of regular use, my GL702VS Got blocked while trying to start PUBG test server, however after 15 mins or so I had to force shutdown, after that the screen never turned on again regardless the OS seems working as I can see shadows on the screen, like when you turn off the screen. At startup does not show the Asus logo nor anything and I can only see this shadows at a certain angle thanks to the environmental light I my room. I have tried everything from trying to guess the windows opened to uninstall the graphics drivers, to log into the Bios. drained the battery out to start over but nothing seems to work to make the screen turn on.

I have the same issue with GL502VSK, from cold boot (more then 5-6 hours turned off) the screen will be completely black, no ROG logo, no windows login screen. During boot I can hear the sound of starting skype, if I put laptop to sleep by using power button or closing lid and then wake up, then screen will start working but not fully. Changing of brightness won't work completely until reboot. If laptop is turned off for 3-4 hours it will start working without problem. Using Win+P doesn't help, no result.

What I have found so far - reinstall of Nvidia drivers solves issue for 5-7 days.
I have disabled fast boot in Windows, Bios, I am using Nvidia drivers from ASUS site.

Can someone help with this issue or give a hint what to try next?

Update, reinstall of Nvidia drivers no longer works. Tried even reinstall with DDU. Could someone please advise the solution?

I have finally found what have caused black screen on cold boot. It was the BIOS 303 from GL502VSK. As last solution I downgraded from 303 to 301 and issues with black screen on cold boot was resolved, and after that I remembered that this issue actually appeared after I updated BIOS from 301 to 303. So in my case the cause of problem is BIOS 303.

Update: All solution in my post were only temporary fix, issue returns after couple of days. I have contacted ASUS support, they only suggested to turn off Fast Boot and that it is better to contact local service for diagnostics and repair. In my case turn off fast boot didn't helped, so I have to RMA it. I hope they will fix it.
