GL553VE Automatic shutdown with Manual Fan Boost

Hi,

I am facing an issue with my GL553VE laptop which shuts down automatically if you do a manual fan boost from the ROG gaming center..the laptop runs just fine if i keep the fan mode to 'Auto' but even with slightest increase in manual fan boost speed results in an automatic shutdown abruptly after 5-10 mins.. Also manually boosting the fan speed resuls in decrease of about 10-15 FPS while gaming ( i dont know for what reason). I also dont have Avast or any other antivirus installed which could be conflicting this..

I contacted Asus support and they asked me to update the BIOS..*
I have already uninstalled and updated nvidia to latest drivers, along with latest version of ROG gaming center (v2.03) and updated BIOS as well (v302), however it still doesnt help.

Is anyone else also facing the same issue with their laptops and have come across any solution for it?

Thanks*

I cannot find the 303 update, when i go to driver download page, i look after my laptop and try to download bios it 302 from 11-aug-2017, and when i try to update it says that this bios version is older than mine. I think i need a downgrade of my BIOS but i don't know how to do it 🙂

Look under driver section. You will find hotfix.

@satria_wr

How did you apply the hotfix ?
Step by step.

None of executables appear to do something...at least I tried to run all of them.

Extract the bios using the tools inside the rar. Flash using asus bios flasher. If you want, i can give you the already extracted bios file.

So for those who have applied the 303 hotfix, is the issue resolved?

@ Bahz and satria_wr

thanks for your answers, I'll look in to this issue, as soon as I receive my laptop from service, if they didnt apply it already.

keep up the good work !

See previous pages, link for 303 is there.

i think that's some testing build, or is it the same as final release of 303 bios for GL553VD.
I assume since u must had flashed it, would like to know about your review then, as i don't have much complaints for 302, except cpu running on 80-85°c on gaming loads, with and without undervolting ... Thanx

I use this laptop outdoor, i use it for flashing automotive ecu. During flashing, ecu load will jump to 100% for avg 15-30 minutes. Temp is about 78-79°c. After that, the driver seat will be hot enough to warm the driver.

Can you confirm if you're getting the shutdown/crashing issue on BIOS 302?

No i don't have any issue on BIOS 302 regarding shutdown/crashing, except keyboard backlit function (fn+f3)
does not work properly to turn the lights off, But that's something i can live with:p
Other than that 302 seems pretty stable for me for my every day use.
