GL553VE Automatic shutdown with Manual Fan Boost

Hi,

I am facing an issue with my GL553VE laptop which shuts down automatically if you do a manual fan boost from the ROG gaming center..the laptop runs just fine if i keep the fan mode to 'Auto' but even with slightest increase in manual fan boost speed results in an automatic shutdown abruptly after 5-10 mins.. Also manually boosting the fan speed resuls in decrease of about 10-15 FPS while gaming ( i dont know for what reason). I also dont have Avast or any other antivirus installed which could be conflicting this..

I contacted Asus support and they asked me to update the BIOS..*
I have already uninstalled and updated nvidia to latest drivers, along with latest version of ROG gaming center (v2.03) and updated BIOS as well (v302), however it still doesnt help.

Is anyone else also facing the same issue with their laptops and have come across any solution for it?

Thanks*

No i don't have any issue on BIOS 302 regarding shutdown/crashing, except keyboard backlit function (fn+f3)
does not work properly to turn the lights off, But that's something i can live with:p
Other than that 302 seems pretty stable for me for my every day use.

Hi Mubex!
Could you clarify a couple of things:
1. Speaking of "i don't have any issue on BIOS 302" you mean 2017/09/07 or 2017/03/16?
2. If you mean 2017/03/16, so you haven't encounter shutdown in several minutes after manual tuning (except choosing 100%) Fan Boost?

GL753VD BIOS 303

Download that, use EasyFlash to update your bios.

Anyone has a file for GL753VE Bios 303 ?

I looked at the previous, but still don't know how to update from 302 to 303. The downloaded 303 hotfix just has a bunch of exe files and clicking them didn't seem to do anything.

Thanks.

1. Open AMIUCP
2. Open AFUIWINGUI.... of your notebook type in AMIUCP
3. Choose Extract
4. Select the one that has @ROM as its ID
5. Give the file a name, whatever is fine then press Apply
6. You'll get a bin file, insert that into a flash drive and plug it in
7. Restart your notebook and enter BIOS
8. Choose advanced mode and enter EZFLASH BIOS
9. Choose your flash drive and then your bin file

Thank you. I was able to extract and flash the new bios.

With Bios 303, I no longer have Gaming Center Manual Fan Boost (1-99%) shut down my computer.

Previously in Bios 302, manual fan boost was ineffective, ie. Max setting can still have a speed 2000-5100 rpm and 50% speed setting can sometimes have a speed faster than max setting.

It seems like the laptop shutdown because of incorrect chipset temperature. For example, CPU/GPU had temp around 55/45C, but Motherboard Chipset had temp in the 95C. Manual Fan Boost, because of incorrect setting, caused an increase in temperature, resulting Chipset temp to be 100C which would shutdown the computer.

After update, CPU and Motherboard Chipset have similar temperature of 55C.
