GL553VD cooling fans question

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a GL553VD, this is my first gaming pc, never used a pc to play videogames before, I was in consoles.

I have noticed that the cooling fans make A LOT of noise while playing games. I play Mortal Kombat X, for example, and they go crazy. Is this normal?

While searching for a solution, I found this http://www.geeks3d.com/20170213/how-to-disable-intel-turbo-boost-technology-on-a-notebook/
and I followed solution 2.4 there. The fans seems to make less noise now. Is this solution ok and without drawbacks in your opinion, or are there other better ways to make it less noisy?

Thanks a lot in advance, and sorry if I'm asking something too obvious, I'm a noob at this.

don't worry, your laptop is fine. as long as temps don't go too far, eg. over 100c you should be fine. and of course it makes more noise, previously consoles were far away from you, now this is right by your side

Yes, I have it in auto. It's ok like that?

Well yes it is OK. I usually set it in auto unless during intense gaming I'll set it to 20/50/100.

Anyways I think you're fine, its normal to have loud fans during high load.
