Hi,
You can find more information by searching online, but below is an article about M.2 SSD slot 'keying' if you're interested and sounds like your M.2 slot is physically able to fit both M.2 SATA and M.2 PCIe SSDs although this doesn't mean both will work as you may find out.

Well, actually that first article above assumed you were using M.2 PCIe SSDs, so maybe didn't quite apply to your question, but the article below that it linked mentioned: "M.2 connector can plug in both PCI-Express-based and SATA-based SSDs, but is generally PCI-Express-based only. This is important because, as we explained above, SATA and PCI-Express protocols are not inter-compatible."

Some of our other notebook models do appear to support both M.2 SATA and M.2 PCIe SSDs at the same time though, but the GL552VW is not one of them.
Below is an thread about GL552VW M.2 SSD support if you're interested, but sounds like there are at least 2 different types of GL552VW motherboards to support either M.2 SATA SSDs or M.2 PCIe SSDs and the same motherboard is not able to support both types at the same time unfortunately.

Hope this helps and makes sense, but feel free to discuss with others and get more opinions of course since some of the information above may be out of date or incorrect right now. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply! 🙂
I'll check out those threads 🙂
I've installed the Intel 600P M.2 2280 PCIe, but it won't get recognized in Windows 10 or in the BIOS. I tried a guide here where you could do changes in BIOS to hopefully get it to recognize the SSD, but no Luck. 😕

If you go to Device Manager View and select Show hidden devices under Universal Serial Bus controller you should now see you USB 3.1.

Hi
I recently bought GL552VW-DM686T and purchased an Intel 600P M.2 2280 SSD along With it to Upgrade.
I know that I made a "bobo" since after a lot of Research after buying the M.2 SSD it's different protocols on them (PCIe and SATA).
And while searching for the difference between the M.2 PCIe and SATA I noticed that it's a little bit different on the socket.
Take these as examples (Pictures):
M.2 2280 SATA:
https://www.komplett.no/product/898529/datautstyr/harddiskerssd/ssd-m2/crucial-mx300-1tb-m2-ssd#
M.2 2280 PCIe:
https://www.komplett.no/product/903116/datautstyr/harddiskerssd/ssd-m2/samsung-960-evo-500gb-m2-pcie...
And my question here, that really confuses me. On this Laptop it says underneath "M.2 2280 SUPPORT SATA SSD ONLY"
I still managed to fit the M.2 PCIe... if it was only supposed to work With the M.2 SATA why would M.2 PCIe fit ? due to the little difference in the socket?
For me it might look like it only needs a BIOS update.. but I don't know 😕
