GL552VW laptop freezes if it goes to sleep?

Heya,

I've this issue with my GL552VW. If the computer goes to sleep, it basically freeze. That happens when I close the lid or when it automatically goes to sleep after 15' I do not touch it.
The light of both power button and the one on the bottom left of the laptop which indicates that the machine is running are always on. If I press the power button nothing happens. What I have to do is to keep my finger on the power button and force it to shut down.

It doesn't always happen, but it happens quite often. Any suggestion?

Thank you everyone.

EDIT: I add one more detail. When I open the lid, if I wait for a while the computer will reboot.

EDIT2: I noticed that this happens even if windows turn the screen off in case of inactivity. The computer simply freeze. I believe this started after the anniversary update, but I'm not sure about that.

Hi there,
I'm having the same issue and i can't reflash de BIOS with /nodate. I use the Winflash but when restarts nothing happens.
Help!

Heya. I saw your PM and replied there. However let me re-post the "solution" here.

To flash your bios go to this link: https://www.asus.com/uk/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-GL552VW/HelpDesk_Download/

This is the official GL552VW page from Asus. Download "Windows BIOS Flash Utility" from "BIOS-Utilities" and follow the instructions. It is very easy this way. Let me know if you solved your problem.

Cheers,

I got the same problem with this model, I got the newest bios version (BIOS 300 - 2016/10/27), but it didn't solved my problem and I cant reflash it with the same version in WinFlash (The BIOS file is older than your current version). Any ideeas on this?

BIOS ver does not meter ... the problem is from Win 10 automatic driver update overwriting stock drivers. Sometimes i have this problem sometimes not.. still not sure from which exact driver is coming .

This is an old thread, but I had the same problem and wanted to share my solution somewhere. Turns out it was NOT a software issue for me. I downloaded CoreTemp and noticed my CPU was running unusually hot, so I took apart my laptop and hit it with some compressed air. It was absolutely caked with dust, especially on the fan. After cleaning it out, I was able to wake it up from sleep with no issues.
