Does the GL551JW-DS74 allow for the 128gb SSD (included) to be upgraded and switched out to a 500gb SSD?
I'm afraid that it's buried beyond reach and will not be replaceable.
Any brother out there own the GL551JW-DS74 that can help?

Thanks!
Cheers

No it is a 30mm mini msata ssd not the standard mSATA.

There is some Phison 256GB half size with MO-300B Variation B - Toshiba NAND
Sequential Read 500MB/s, Write 180MB/s
140$ on Amazon

I don't know if you can install the system on it in UEFI...

I can confirm after days of searching that the 256GB mSATA Mini (Half Size) SATAIII SSD (Upgrade Version - Faster Write Speed)
Sold by: M-Factors Storage (from Amazon) works perfectly. However, I was unable to find a 500Gb upgrade. No doubt as technology improves, one that size will become available.

My SSD has failed for the second time.
In talking with ASUS today, they said that the SSD in the ROG GL551JW-DS74 is a Kingston SSD number /RBU-SMSM151S3/128 Gb.
It is a mSATA SSD.
In talking with Kingston today, they said I should be able to replace the SSD with any of the SSD - System Builder, mS200. It is available in 120 Gb, 240 Gb, and 480 Gb configurations. It is available from multiple places, including Kingston direct.
Here is the info from Kingston - http://www.kingston.com/us/ssd/system-builder/sms200s3

The 128Gb with Windows 10 is virtually useless, even with all docs, pagefiles, etc. on HD. Supper fast, but Windows 10 is a hog.
I am going for the 480Gb. I will keep you posted.

so time for a new ssd , and i dont want a kingston again...any recommendations?

Did anyone successfully upgraded their 128GB SSD so far? Please share the details, I'm planning to upgrade mine soon.
