GL502VS Discharging while Plugged-in

Hi,

I have got the new GL502VS with the 1070 gtx in it.
After reading a few topics in other forums I saw that some people complains about the battery - saying that it keeps discharging while connected to the charger.
Then, I noticed that it happens for me too.
It's not a big deal, but around 8% in an hour of playing Mafia 3.

Do you guys aware to this problem?
Is there anyway to fix it?

Thanks.

Yes, you should be able to tell from the cpu (or from the size of the original AC adapter wattage), but if you want to look into your 'other options', you may want to continue discussing with the call center although there could be an issue if you are no longer under warranty, so not sure what will happen with that.

Is this even a thing?

I mean, in all honesty, if you bought the 502VSK, there is no better 15.6 laptop other than the ASUS Zephyrus 1080 Max-Q model. Unless people are trying to get their money back or something. I would be more than happy with just a non-draining past 90% 502vsk. I doubt this class action is going to go anywhere. Doesn't hurt to sign up I guess. I do think this drainage issue is legitimate, and should be properly addressed. It has been quite some time since the laptop came out.

If they were to give you an option of getting a new laptop or something, that would be awesome. Just know though that the 7th Gen GL502VS is experiencing the same issue for some people and as cl-Albert stated, HQ is not acknowledging the issue.

Well a refund would just pay for a new laptop on another brand then, now I got to figure out what brand...

That would be great for you for sure. It just sucks since ASUS gaming laptops are pretty awesome. Just a note if you have to go that route. Any laptop that has the Max-Q series of video cards, you have to go up one model to stay at the same performance level of a regular card. For example, the Max-Q 1080 perform very slightly above a 1070 normal laptop card. The Max-Q 1070 performs slightly better than a 1060 normal laptop card. Bad Nvidia, Bad... lol

I am currently going through RMA and my laptop is out of warranty. The rep on the phone said the repair could cost upwards of $600+. Has anyone in similar situation had to pay for the repair?

Going to bump this even though I just got this laptop which I'm already kinda regretting after reading this thread.

I have a GL502VSK with the 7th gen i7700HQ / GTX 1070. I'm using a 180w PSU but I've already ordered a 230w PSU. What's going on with mine is as soon as I load up any semi-graphical game whether it's Aragami or Path of Exile or something "relatively" light, my battery light immediately turns off and says I'm on battery power even though it's still plugged in. Thus completely killing any performance because unplugged performance is pretty much garbage on any gaming laptop. It's like it trips a breaker in the PSU from pulling too much juice. It will only start to charge again if I unplug the PSU from the outlet itself and plug it back in. If I unplug from the laptop and plug it back in it will not charge. Basically the laptop is completely useless for any kind of gaming beyond Hotline Miami and the like. I'm really hoping the higher powered PSU makes a difference as I bought the laptop used and I'm pretty much SOL for any kind of RMA. I'd send it in for repairs but I'm not spending $600 for them to not fix the issue.
