GL502VS Discharging while Plugged-in

Hi,

I have got the new GL502VS with the 1070 gtx in it.
After reading a few topics in other forums I saw that some people complains about the battery - saying that it keeps discharging while connected to the charger.
Then, I noticed that it happens for me too.
It's not a big deal, but around 8% in an hour of playing Mafia 3.

Do you guys aware to this problem?
Is there anyway to fix it?

Thanks.

Hi have the issue while playing Civilization 5.

I will check next time I play if the battery drops below 89%

Thanks for the feedback and if you get the chance, can you please confirm if the battery ever drains below 89% while plugged in and playing those games, or does the battery always stay at 89% charge and higher while plugged in?

The battery can dip below 89%. I have seen it go down to 86,87%. If it does, it does not appear to charge after an hour. I have monitored it further and to the best of my knowledge, it looks like its has slowed the draining. However, the drain appears to still be present as I have continue to go down, albeit much more slower. The laptop also is never able to actually charge during gameplay. If I discharge to 50% while unplugged and plug it in while gaming, the battery percentage will never increase while under heavy load even after multiple hours. This seems to indict that the power supply hardware/design even with the most recent bios is only able to slow the drain, but is not able to positively charge the laptop while under intensive load.

Thank you all for providing the list of games you're encountering the discharging issue with, I hope more people come forward to share this information with us.

Thank you, I will pass entire list and will make sure our R&D tests each game on the list to confirm.

Elite Dangerous in VR (using the Oculus Rift).

For myself I decided it was too risky to send my machine back for the ASUS RMA process. The technical support people didn't really understand the issue, and I'm travelling in a week.

1) BIOS version and OS version 2) Adapter (180W or 230W)
230 W
**
3) Which game or application were you running and how long were you running that game/application before the battery was discharged past 90% while plugged in?

Elite Dangerous in VR (using the Oculus Rift). 40 mins from 100 to 90% battery state.
**
4) Provide extra details on other applications that were running in the background, including the versions of those applications.*
Windows 10 Home Edition.
Running HWInfo 64 in background to measure battery monitoring.*

Does it ever go below 90%? If it doesn't then that is normal. The discharging within 10% is the normal design and of this notebook and this current version of the BIOS which overall helps extend the battery lifespan. If it drops below 90% while plugged in then that's not normal and what we're trying to target. If you have any occurrences where it drops below 90% while plugged in then please provide that.

Yes, when I did my test the battery dropped to 83% (and kept dropping).

I reported this on post #534 on 06-25-2017 02:35 AM. That was two months ago.

I have installed and used every version of the GL502VS BIOS since October 2016 - and kept reporting it on this forum.*

With GL502VS

1) 301/302 BIOS, Windows 10
2) 180W Adapter
3) PUBG for 2 hours - 100% to 88%
4) Chrome, Kaspersky, Firefox, Steam, Discord

With GL502VS

1) 302 BIOS, Windows 10
2) 180W Adapter
3) No Man Sky's for 3 hours - 100% to 86%
4) steam, logitech game sofware, 1 extra monitor , 1 hdd with external PSS, gaming keyboard and mouse

I email to the support. They say i should send my laptop for repair. But reading this thread I don't think thats going to resolve the probleem. Should I take the risk and send it?
