GL502VMK 302 Bios Update

Just a heads up, there is a new bios update for the GL502VMK that was released on the 13th.

Apparently we are now up to version 302.

Description is vague, 'Optimize system performance.' I'll update and report back if anything crazy happens. lol

Undervolting the GPU with MSI afterburner, you can tell it to apply on startup so it always works. 🙂

On the CPU side, I believe in the thread by Onjax they said that if you use ThrottleStop rather than XTU it applies every time as well. (I could be wrong, but for some reason that stands out in my memory.)

Worth double checking at the very least. 🙂

I will update it soon (1-2 weeks), as I used ThrootleStop to make the undervolting of the CPU persist.

But I confess I had to dial down a bit on the undervolting of the CPU (from -110mV to -105mV) with this new 302 BIOS Firmware.
GPU is still a gray area, as I need further testing.
I got a blue screen three days ago and one today.

Another strange thing is that after the bios update, using an external display over display port there is now stutter. Like every 30 seconds or so the GPU usage drops to zero for a second or and the game freezes up. Then goes back to normal.

It only happens on an external display.

Anyone else notice this with the new bios update? Or experience anything similar?

After further testing, I have found that only displayport is affected. Tested both 60HZ aend 144HZ, extended display, cloned display, second display only, all exhibited the stuttering/gpu usage problem.

HDMI on the other hand is working just fine. Same with the internal display.

Tomorrow I will test with another monitor over DP, as well as with G-Sync on and Off (the external display is a gsync display), and report back with my findings.

EDIT: Also I will roll back my GPU drivers tomorrow as well just to make sure that wasn't the issue. But I'm pretty sure I updated my drivers before the bio's update, and did not experience the problem.

I just tested with G-Sync off, and the problem went away. So now I am really thinking it is a driver issue and not related to the bios. I'll keep testing and update if I find anything. Like I say, tomorrow I'll roll back my drivers and see what happens.
