I have had my strix now for 2 months and not having issues with it only the gen4 ssd slot seems is not working.
When opening the details in crystaldiskinfo or the wd dashoboardof the ssd wont show the interface speed. if i look in the bios at the ssd it tells me that no raid is selected.
I have this issue with the wd and the standard 1tb samsung drive. Both don't run in gen 4 mode.
Been reading alot of this issues online but nothing seems to work for me.
Running bios G634jz.321.
Hope somebody can help me here. I did try reinstall the bios but this didn't fix the issue either

you boot the source clone it with macrium etc to the new drive thats connected via usb so its readable in windows.
remove the old drive
insert the new drive and set VMD to off and it should boot
if that works you can use VMD manager to remove the raid from the old drive / or plug the old drive in via usb and format / delete it properly
then it can be reinserted as a second drive in windows
thats how i did it when i replaced my drives with 2 x 4tb wd850x since having raid was overkill anyhow

Hi, thanks for the assistance . I was a little impatient and ended up installing windows from The recovery. Long story short. I got gen 4 working woohoo. But everything else I build up after 2 months is gone. Thanks for your help. Strange though this vmd/raid is implemented like this. I would as consumer prefer ahci before raid. This is how the laptop should be delivered to me anyway as I had one ssd installed from the factory. Also the reason why I bought 2 new ssd's as the original didn't work on gen 4.

are you sure your bio is set to AHCI and not raid mode

yeah thats the issue your boot drive is configured to raid which is interfering with windows.
you would need to reinstall windows with raid disabled or clone the operating system to the new drive via usb then disable raid and boot from it

Hi goodday, To be sure. this cloning should I put the source in the USB drive and the target in the gen 4 slot? Or vice versa. And ofcourse disable vmd before cloning.
