(G835LX) Multi-Zone and Keyboard lighting

I'm having an issue in Ultimate Mode, where True color-HDR mode takes over. I can't switch back to Multi-Zone lighting. The option is grayed out. The only way to force it to temporarily return is by doing a clean install of NV driver. The problem returns after a restart. I've tried disabling HDR and all the usual troubleshooting. I can get Multi-Zone working again in Optimized mode by selecting DGPU only. I'm not sure what's causing this, but I think it's an Armoury Crate/Gsync issue. I'm leaning towards Armoury Crate (after the latest update), because my 2023 Scar 16, all of a sudden can't display Multi-Zone either.

I'm also having keyboard issues. It appears the keyboard for the (G835LX) shows up as generic in Device Manager.  Asus has no keyboard drivers/firmware for the (G835LX) keyboard. My keyboard and laptop aren't being detected by Aura Sync. I'm stuck with generic lighting.. Windows dynamic lighting is disabled, so that's not the cause. I've uninstalled Armoury Crate, Ghelper, doesn't help.

Just a lot of annoying issues.

Hi,

"'m having an issue in Ultimate Mode, where True color-HDR mode takes over. I can't switch back to Multi-Zone lighting. The option is grayed out." I have experienced something like this too. Just don't create any color profiles, or  just don't mess with the color bit (should stay 8 bit) and nvdia or intel screen settings. Get them to the original settings.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

So that worked..

But now I'm wondering if True HDR Mode is the way Ultimate Mode and HDR gaming are supposed to work.

Whenever I enable HDR it defaults back to True HDR, if I toggle off HDR it defaults back to Multi-Zone. Basically Multi-Zone and HDR can't be enabled simultaneously, like previous models.. True HDR didn't exist until 2025. I wish someone from ASUS would clarify.

I struggled with this problem for several hours, it's frustrating that in such an expensive laptop error after error appears, I confirm that turning on the color depth to 10, in iGPU or dGPU blocks the possibility of selecting multiple SDR zones and turns on HDR without the possibility of turning it off.
