G834JY 331 bios affecting undervolt and ram

I had -80mV undervolting and 64GB of 5600 DDR5 ram installed since I bought my G834JY since Jul 2023.

I installed bios 331 on 11 Dec 2024 and since then had 2 hard crashes where the laptop would not boot up.  I managed to perform EC reset to resume normal service once.  Yesterday the laptop was stuck on black screen with the charging indicator flashing orange.  Nothing restored normal service even EC reset multiple times and powering on would get the LED to light up, keyboard animations would play but nothing on the screen, this would keep power cycling every 20 seconds.

I then resorted to swapping in 32GB 4800 DDR5 memory that the laptop originally came with and it managed to resume operations.  Swapping back in the 64GB 5600 DDR5 memory and same symptoms as before.  So I popped back in the 32GB 4800 DDR5 memory, went into the bios and lowered the undervolt to -70mV.  Swapped in the 64GB 5600 DD5 memory and it manages to boot up.

Looks like the 331 bios affects stable undervolting and ram timings from before.  Just worried it will keep deteriorating and I lose any ability to undervolt cpu at all.  Anyone else experienced instability since installing the 331 bios after stable undervolting previous to this new bios?

I'll admit to not knowing enough about undervolting, but from what I've researched online an undervolt, unlike an overclock, should not adversely affect longevity. Though I've seen some reports suggest that the higher temps reached from the added overhead can adverse longevity. Several have complained that 331 has stability issues, i would lean in the direction that your stability concerns are more related to bios 331 than chip degradation.

I also have suspicions about BIOS 331, after it problems occur with sudden black screens, sometimes 2 times in a row, sometimes 1. There is something in the error log about the virtual machine. These fraudulent features are manufactured exactly 2 years from the boards production date of November 18, 2022. We, as consumers, are clearly not fools and see the patterns of unstable software. Not a far-sighted move and attitude towards us from Asus.

You should just always undervolt with something like throttlestop, so you don't have issues like this, as even if the system is unstable you don't get stuck with the settings and can just try until you reach stable settings. -70 isn't a big enough undervolt to affect a 13980hx, since that's the same as mine and I'm at -145 on the cpu core alone. There's people that have complained about 331, and others, including me have seen no change. It's hard to say, what they changed to have such mixed results, but I don't know why an undervolt would interact like that with the change in RAM.

Had my 3rd black screen after starting a game.  Had to swap back to original 32 GB DDR5 4800 ram to be able to post.  Disabled the undervolt from the bios.  Swapped back to my 64GB ddr 5600 ram so I could successfully boot.

After that I can set an undervolt in the bios and be able to boot up.  Seems bios 331 has problems with memory learning or inability to EC reset ram timings.

Someone pls find a way to revert back to pre 331 bios so we can restore stability.
