g733qs linux freeze problem

I've been experiencing issues with my laptop running Linux. Several months ago, I started noticing that the system would freeze occasionally. Recently, these freezes have become more frequent.

Initially, I thought the problem was with my Linux distribution, so I decided to reinstall it. However, I've now realized that the issue persists regardless of which Linux distribution I install. The problem even occurs during the installation process. Even older versions of Linux are affected by this issue.

Importantly, the laptop works fine when running Windows 11, with no freezing problems.

I suspect that the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) might be causing the problem, but I can't disable it as there's no such option in my BIOS.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Downgrading the bios version doesn't help

It appears that the problem is related to the NVIDIA driver. When I completely disabled it using the kernel parameter 'nvidia.modeset=0', the freezing issue disappeared.

How did you go by doing that? Any clues would help greatly!

I have the same issue with any OS other than win11/win10, even when I boot into rescue stuff. I've had the freezing happen even while installing windows at times. Its impossbile for me to have a full session without a freeze with any other OS than Windows. I've tried and got the freezes on all these:

Rescuezilla (while creating or restoring imgs), Clonezilla (NO GUI, full command line), any boot with GRUB, Ubuntu, Lubuntu, ChromeOS Flex, FydeOS, Android TV, Android x86, Bliss OS, Hiren' s BCD, Kaspersky Rescue, ESET live and probably many others which I cant think of right now.

I've tried all of these with normal or safe graphical modes, both with mbr or gpt boot types. No luck at all.

I wanted to provide an update on my Linux freezing issues:

Initially, when I installed CachyOS, using the 'nvidia.modeset=0' kernel parameter during installation and in GRUB for the installed system helped resolve the freezing. I also removed all NVIDIA drivers. However, after some time, the freezes started occurring again, becoming more and more frequent. Eventually, the problem returned to its original state.

After this, I tried installing MX Linux (MX-23.3_x64 "ahs"). I chose to run the installation using AMD video drivers. Since then, I haven't experienced any freezing issues. I've even updated the system, including the kernel, and everything continues to work normally.

While MX Linux may not be as customizable as Arch-based distributions, it's a stable solution for my current situation. I still haven't fully understood the root cause of the problem with other distributions.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with NVIDIA drivers in Arch-based systems? Any insights into why MX Linux with AMD drivers works while other distributions had problems would be greatly appreciated. I'm particularly interested in understanding if this is a common issue with certain Linux kernels or NVIDIA driver versions.
