Dear ASUS Support Team and ROG Community,
I’m experiencing a serious issue with my ROG Strix G713QM-HX121 (Ryzen 7 5800H / RTX 3060) laptop.
After updating the BIOS to version 331, both fans stopped working completely.
Below are the details of what I’ve tested and verified so far:
Symptoms:
BIOS shows only one fan, with RPM values jumping from 0 to 65000 constantly — but the fans do not physically spin.
In Armory Crate, the same behavior appears — fluctuating RPMs, but no fan movement.
CPU and GPU temperatures rise without cooling activation.
There are no fan-related options in BIOS at all (no Fan Control, Q-Fan, or thermal management settings).
Fan Expert fails to install (foundDMI fail error).
GHelper and similar tools cannot detect or control the fans either.
Downgraded BIOS to version 321 — issue persists.
Performed a clean Windows 11 installation (official Microsoft ISO).
Installed all ASUS drivers, including ASUS System Control Interface V3 (3.1.46.0) and the latest Armory Crate.
Fully removed and reinstalled Armory Crate using the official Uninstaller Tool — no change.
Disabled Fast Boot in both BIOS and Windows — no effect.
Removed battery and disconnected power to reset EC — no effect.
It looks like after BIOS update 331, the EC firmware might have stopped detecting or controlling the fans properly.
Questions:
1. Is there a way to perform a manual EC reset or downgrade the BIOS/EC firmware to a previous version?
2. Can I obtain an official BIOS/EC dump to restore proper fan functionality?
