G55 Touchpad Button Issue?

So i have noticed in many games now that when i am using the right mouse button on the touchpad to click (I.E. - Rifle sights/Zoom) that the left button will then not work when pressed. Is this something i can configure in the settings? (I did look in the control panel settings and did not notice anything with that type of option in it), is this naturally how it is designed to work or is my unit defective?

Hey, I think that issue is apparent on all G55's as I have it as well.

However, it is only with the touch pad, since everything works fine with a standard usb mouse.

Also shouldn't games be played with a regular mouse? Since using a touchpad is a significant disadvantage.

Wait..you use touchpad to play games??

For $1400 I'd sure like to be able to if I want. This is lame sauce indeed.
...seriously tho, is there a solution?

So, if you want to actually play games on your "gaming notebook" without plugging in a USB mouse...

Uninstall the elan driver and let windows install the standard PS/2 driver. reboot.

This will cause all of the multi-touch scrolling/zooming/window switching to stop working.

I think this can really be fixed by messing around with the ETD.inf file before installing the driver again.
I thought I had found the option, but it didn't change anything... I will keep trying.

For now, this is the only solution I could find.

I was really enjoying the quick functions that the ELAN driver provides for web browsing and switching apps the "pretty" way,
but if I can't get my RAGE on while sitting in my chillin' chair, WHY DID I SPEND ALL THIS MONEY!?

I think that when the new updated drivers roll out that issue will be taken care of. And don't worry brother, you haven't given your money for nothing. After all the G75/G55 series are still new and every new product has a couple of problems which are fixed with updates later on. So there is nothing to worry about 🙂

except asus doesn't update the drivers on their product page website! video card drivers are still in the 290 series, when the newest are in the 300s. same with via audio drivers and others.

That's because they announced that the new drivers will be released on the Windows 8 release date. So for the rest 5 days kick back and relax 🙂
