G55 FSB, CPU + RAM Overclocking

Hi all, just wanted to share, since in Bios 217 the overclocking tools are removed, I am now trying Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. I can only push FSB to about 105.3mhz, anything beyond crashes.

Running P95 now for about 5 minutes, CPUs hitting 90degC but otherwise alright (as alright as you can be on 90degC).

FSB 105.3mhz
CPU (4 cores) 3.37ghz
RAM 1684mhz

So colour me pretty impressed. Since 3.2ghz is the stock CPU for 4 cores turbo, getting 3.37ghz on four cores, not bad.

Good results.

I think that BCLK overclocking is not wise. Since the multiplier is locked I would just focus on the GPU overclocking. Although 105 degrees is the max I believe that 90 degrees on the CPU is too high.

Interesting. 105.0mhz FSB seems to be stable, and 90degC on CPU is mostly when pushing the CPU Max using say Prime95. I will keep an eye to see how things go with games because I don't think a lot of games peg all CPU cores 100%.

Cheers for the feedback... I just like the "feeling" that I can go from 3.2ghz to 3.35ghz on a laptop. Feels like... victory.

Hah OK you were right gokica, I'm getting some crashes after about 1-2 hours. So I'm setting it to about 103mhz now and see how it goes, to get 3.3ghz on 4 CPU cores and 1652mhz RAM.
