G53 Pin Broke-- THIRD TIME

This is insane.

This is the third time the pin broke on my G53, and my brother in law had the charger port broken on his G73 a few months ago.

Yet every time ASUS expects me to ship the unit in (and pay for packaging) go without my laptop for a month just so they can replace it with a part that can break again?

I've heard people say that they were able to get a refund for their purchase if the same problem keeps happening, but ASUS has claimed that there are no issues with the charger port in the G53/G73 models.

Has anyone done this? Because I am sick of sending this laptop in. This is NOT the quality of ASUS I am used to over the past few years.

Edit: and for the record, I DO use the laptop on my lap, but I am very careful about the plug being tugged or bent. It's kind of hard some times given how the plug torques on the pin even from just gravity.

The ASUS 'fix' for this issue is not a fix at all. @jt128's modification in http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?1800-power-connector-pin-broke-on-my-G53jw&p=97118&viewfull... seems like the way to go for a solution. Sure, you pay for the fix, but it's going to be offset by the cost of shipping to ASUS and the time spent waiting for them to get a new motherboard from China - with the power connector pin just breaking off again in the near future...

Wow. That sounds GREAT!

Fortunately, I have the materials at work to do this.

It just burns me up that ASUS denies that there are any problems with this jack.

I also found an AC Adapter on Amazon that has the 90 degree angle connector. Between these 2, it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks!
