Hi all,
I got this laptop about 3 months ago and, even if I have a quite good knowledge of homemade desktops, I know almost nothing about laptops.
I've read lots of threads about this entry level gaming platform, but I'm still confused...
Let's go and see what I'm "obsessed" with
- Working temperatures (In relation to ambient temperature)
- When do thermal pasting (is it worth doing a thermal repasting or is it better to return your laptop?)
- How much air pads and suction pads help
- Shoud I format PC and reinstall WIndows?
About point 1: My room is quite hot these days (about 28-30 celsius degree or 82-86 fahrenheit) and when I play games temp ranges are from 66 to 84 celsius (150-183 fahrenheit) while the GPU from 68 to 73 celsius (154-163 fahrenheit). I've already undervolt to -122mV the CPU, disabled Turbo Boost and, via MSI afterburn, undervolt Nvidia 1050m GTX to 950mV (most stable voltage at higher freqs). These results has been reached also by buying an air cooler pad. I bought a suction pad (Klim cool+, the copper version) but seems to have no effect on the temperatures.
I wonder if this is a "common-summer" condition and I can sleep peacefully or should I do something else to reach better temps.
These are my laptop specs:
- i7-7700hq 2.8
- 16GB Single-Channel DDR4
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 , with 4GB GDDR5
- M2 Samsung SSD 960 EVO 250GB (as system disk where Windows and Games are Installed)
- Hitachi HGST HTS721010A9E630 (1GB HDD 7200rpm) (storage)
