This is has started to drive me crazy but I can’t seem to figure out what’s causing it. My laptop has recently had situations where it will get 1% lows in the single digit fps. It seems to be independent of the graphics quality or with dlss on or off. I tried reinstalling my nvidia drivers, restarting my laptop, turning off vertical sync. This has happened in every game I play but my best example is in PSO2: NGS. I set the frame rate to cap at 90 fps with dlss on performance mode, the settings were put to optimized for whatever nvidia did. It would do 90fps with 45, 30 1% lows then after a small amount of time switch to 60fps with 10 or 6 1% lows. The graphics card doesn’t seem to be working a sweat. It stays at maybe 60°C at max 70% utilization while the processor is in the high 90s°c with at most 30%. I have no clue what’s causing this

What do you mean you don't know what is causing this? It's right there in your post. You say your cpu is in the high 90s. That is insane. It will be thermal throttling at about 95 and then your fps will drop for a sec because of it. That is all. Undervolt the CPU and/or limit the boost. You could also reapply the thermal compound if you want even better results. There is no game that should get your cpu anywhere near those temps if everything is working fine, in fact even at 100% usage it shouldn't be at those temps.

Well that’s good to know. I got it in July so I thought the thermal paste wouldn’t be an issue. I’m going to contact ASUS and see if it’s within warranty

Hello,
This one "G16 G614JIR" is an I9-14900HX with an RTX 4070.
One big factor for the high temps is the 14900HX boost frequency, it can hit 5.8Ghz so the core voltages get quite high causing a lot of heat.

Can we talk somewhere else i am facing same issue with my g16 i5 13450HX for 3 4 month i know what is going on Cpu constantly working on 95°C My Instagram: aspserenity

what you wont to talk whit the people just send it to warranty if you have problem like this maybe the thermal paste or liquide metal is the problem 10000%

First i already done that and this problem came up again and also by talking with him Now i know what is the main issue

so than you can try to check what are the fan speeds what is the power usage in watts also proccesor usage in task manager
if you check this things and all fans work the power usage in watts is around 50 watts (this is a mid CPU usage i mid to heavy tasks) and proccesor utilization is not more than 20 % so you need to send it in repair center again
