FAR CRY 3 Massive stuttering on G75Vx @ 60 FPS

User_n

Hi all
Anyone else is facing the same problem??? I have serious stuttering on G75Vx with far cry 3 @ 60 FPS even i lower all down I get 100 FPS but game still stutters, so,
Regardless of the resolution i set, regardless of the video settings I put, game feels just so unplayable and I have spent more time tweaking the game than actually played it. It gets so annoying that I would brake my lap in half, however, I know that's not a hardware issue but FC3 software problem, but was just wondering anyone else facing this problem...

At first I thought it is an laptop issue, then i thought it is driver issue, but obviously according to Ubisoft we have a more than needed configuration to play it maxed out without problems....

I haven't read not even one article that game is unplayable on G75 or any G series here on forum, so, Am I the really only one facing this issue....???

please if someone can throw in some info, currently I am "playing" on very high @ 1080 I get around 60 fps but massive stutter. I am going crazy, some solution is highly appreciated...
I played other games maxed out at 40 FPS and were perfectly playable...
I have found some solutions with dxtory 2.0, but before I install it would like to know anyone else found other solution specifically for G laptops...
Many thanks for Your inputs

Gotta get it outta the way - Are you playing plugged in and on the High Performance power profile?

Only put it up, if you happen to have a lower frame rate, like 26....it basically pre-renders frames before the computer gets them, so if you have a low frame rate it will smooth it out, but if you have a high frame rate, it will stutter as there are "2 sets" of frames at once in a way...

it's the Max Buffer frames, set it to the lowest possible, don't remember if it's 1 or 0....also check your nvida panel too, see if the maximum pre-rendered frames are also set to 1...

SOLVED

Hi all, thanks for your inputs, OK finally got it working... Jesus Christ, this game gave me a headache...
What I did was first thing actually lowered buffered frames to 1, I saw an performance improvement by at least 50% while still running at 60 FPS...but stutter lowered that much...so thanks!!
Next thing I did was lowered this PostFX to LOW, and got 20 more frames, i.e. 80-85... so I says f__k it... I returned back to 5 buffered frames, and still saw 80 FPS and same performance... I switched on everything else and maxed it out, MSAAx8, V Sync 2 frames, HDAO on, alpha coverage enhaced. The frames dropped down to but less stuttering although still there... guessing now this got to do with Vsync and buffer, so switched v sync to 0, still stutters a bit, so lowered buffered frames to 1 as well, while keeping NV control panel on "Quality" settings, and finally got 65 frames in fight and in fire rest working at 70, ...all the time keeping my FPS over my monitor refresh rate, no stuttering.... and honestly - visually I cannot say difference with DOF on(postfx)... currently all is maxedd out except for these three points...
I feel OK now as I can play the game I wanted to on close to max visuals, hope I will not be disappointed by it in the end...
Many thanks for inputs...

Nice.. I would like to add tho if u want to keep performance and improve quality even more you should disable all MSAA try and max out graphics as much as you can whilst maintaining a stable frame rate and then use SweetFX injector to inject SMAA + Lumasharpen + Vibrance at least or im sure u can find some preset settings for sweetfx and far cry 3.. My bro has same laptop as me and runs this game with almost everything ultra + sweetfx and it looks crazyy !

Thanks much!! I have tried sweetFX, but the parametars I would like to use have a quite a performance impact, however they really improve the game visual sooo much. So I am looking on implementation of theese but seems I will have to OC a bit more...
Also, I found that Nvidia FXAA actually works the best for me...
I would like to ask you one more question...
Is it possible you ask your brother what's the drivers he is using and which OS on g75vx...
I am on win7 and 310.90, I found better performance in this particular game with 306.13 (original) but Max Payne3 and Batman are suffering so much on that drivers... Thanks!

haha yea, if you use certain parameters in sweetfx it can actually have a quite a performance hit.. But i want to get good performance you should just use SMAA - Lumasharpen - Vibrance and disable in game MSAA....

Yea if you are using the VX you should OC it to the max as you can with a 670MX..

I will ask my bro for his farcry settings for you but he has a G75-VW with windows 7..

I would highly suggest u get the latest and greatest beta drivers from Nvidia - 313.96
