Faint lines on whole screen and ROG Boost O.C. stuck causing rapid battery drain.

After a reinstallation of Armoury crate, i have got an issue where faint lines are appearing on the whole screen when it is on battery or else in the 60Hz mode.

If i plug in for charging(auto switch to 300Hz) or just switch to 300Hz, the faint lines disappear.

This doesn't look like a hardware issue of the screen, because if it would have, then even on charging or 300Hz mode, the lines would appear. Seems like a software issue or refresh rate controller causing the lines to appear.

Has anyone faced or is facing this issue ? Any solutions ?

I have an Asus ROG SCAR 17.

Hi @judahwaskar ,

I would like to confirm if you have used the uninstall tool to uninstall Armoury Crate before reinstalling it? Additionally, have you updated your BIOS to the latest version 331, installed the ASUS-verified NVIDIA display driver version V30.0.15.1278, and reinstalled ASUS System Control Interface version V3.1.27.0 to see if the issue improves?
If the problem persists, could you please provide us with a video or photos to further investigate this issue? Thank you.

@Anbby_ROG Yes, i used the uninstall tool and then reinstalled it. In the Armoury create, in GPU Stat the Frequency is hard stuck on ROG Boost O.C. and since then the battery drains 1% within a minute or even in few seconds.

My BIOS is already updated on latest version 331.  Nvidia display driver is on version 31.0.15.5212. My current Nvidia Game Ready driver version is 552.12, something seems to have happened since this version.

@Anbby_ROG  So far, I can understand that the ROG boost stuck issue causing rapid battery drain is supposedly caused by Armoury Crate new version. 
Today i received a new nvidia game ready driver update to version 555.99, however after updating the driver, ROG boost issue persists. So, definitely this is an issue with Armoury crate.

And one major thing i noticed is that when the laptop is put on charge, the GPU frequency is out of the ROG boost and works as expected based on whatever mode i select - silent or performance. 

The moment i unplug the charger and laptop is on battery power, the GPU frequency straight forward goes to ROG boost, whatever mode i select - silent or performance, it doesn't change and further starts draining the battery rapidly.

All of my issues - faint lines, rapid battery drain due to ROG boost stuck in GPU frequency in Armoury Crate, etc.

I followed the below steps in the sequence mentioned on battery mode (I would suggest charging the laptop to the point where these things can be followed, the drain will not be rapid since Armoury crate uninstallation will isolate the issue for the interim):

1. Uninstalled Armoury Crate with the Uninstall Tool and restarted the system.

2. Then I uninstalled both the integrated graphic(AMD Software and the Raedon Software) and Dedicated graphic(Nvidia Game Ready) drivers and restarted the system.

3. Next, I reinstalled the AMD Software using the official AMD Software driver detect tool, so it installed the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. After which, I reinstalled the Nvidia Game Ready driver, the latest one available, which currently is the 555.99 version for my spec. Restarted the system again.

4. Finally, I reinstalled the Armoury Crate and then whatever updates it had, I clicked "update" for each component rather than clicking "Update All". Again, restarted my system.

5. Launched the Armoury Crate and under Device > System > GPU Power Saving, selected the Optimized mode[Asus Recommended].

And voila! All my issues got resolved, and the GPU Frequency is now behaving as it should on battery and plugged in - rather than getting stuck on ROG boost O.C.
