Good afternoon,
First of all merry christmas to you all
Last month (Nov. 29th) I've purchased a brand new Asus Rog Strix (G713PI), and was initially very impressed with the performance and graphics compared to my old PC. (Almost 10 years old). So far so good, however after 2 days both of the known issues (as I found out at this time) arose;
Issue 1: Random shut-downs
The laptop would randomly shut down during games, suspected overheating and after some browsing set the cooling setting in Armoury Crate to Turbo. This seemed to have (mostly) fixed the issue, however 3 days ago I had another 4 shutdowns in 2 days, including 1 where the pc was just idling on a webpage without any other programmes running. That said, I've tested the laptop with graphics heavy games the past 2 days and have had 0 shutdowns. Has anyone found a workable solution for these shutdowns?
Issue 2: Non responsive keyboard
This issue also arose after 2 or 3 days of use - the keyboard would at first miss the first 1 or 2 strokes, and gradually got worse (Up to being completely unresponsive for minutes). After browsing this forum I found that updating the BIOS should work, so I did that and that seemed to have fixed the issue. Yesterday however the same problem arose, with the 1st keystroke not registering but only after not using the keyboard for about 10 seconds - it feels like it's lagging or going to sleep mode. As the BIOS is up to date, the only solution was to remove the keyboard driver and restart the laptop. This has worked and it's functioning as normal again, however I feel like this is a strange issue and should not be expected with a new laptop.
Basically, my question is this: The store at which I bought the laptop has a 30 day return policy, are there proven long-term fixes for both these issues or am I better off sending the laptop back for a full refund?
Thanks in advance
Michel
