What is the exact text of the error you receive when trying to use the Drivers Disk? You may need to clean the laser lenses of your ODD.

@tijo has provided a list of drivers for the G37JH at the bottom of http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/640272-asus-g73jh-driver-disc.html.

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=G73Jh&p=3&os=30 is the ASUS website for G37JH drivers.

I suspect a bad burn for the Windows 7 .ISO you downloaded from Digital River (or you may have an issue with your ODD) . If you wish to continue with a clean install, I recommend trying another burn at the slowest speed available.

again,

I've bought the 2 disk set of asus recovery (crippled) restore disk. I get error in big red letters across the screen then cannot load imagex at src WIM file.

I've downloaded the digital river home premium disk and burned to dvd... it starts to install and then it's looking for the driver for the chipset and I open the driver I have and there is a very large choice of drivers in that file. I don't know which files are needed.

1. should the digital river version of windows totally install generic drivers to the point it's running the g73 then I "upgrade" to the asus drivers off the support website? is there something wrong have I burned the disk wrong or chosen the wrong windows home premium iso???

You want to download the .ISO file of the exact version of Windows 7 that originally shipped with your G73 so you can activate it with the Windows 7 Product Key on the label on the bottom of the laptop. But any Windows 7 .ISO file should install the Windows Plug-n-Play drivers necessary for a working installation. They would only fail to activate without a valid Product Key.

When you receive an error that the chipset. driver cannot be found, it is more likely symptomatic of a bad burn or a failure of your ODD to read the disk. One resolution to this problem is to burn the installation disk again at a slower speed. You may even wish to reboot prior to the re attempt and make sure Antivirus is disabled and no other applications are running.

You could also try a different brand of DVD or choose to burn the file to a USB flash drive.

However, you could possibly have a problem with your ODD reading discs since you also reported an error when attempting an ASUS Factory Restore from disk. Cleaning the laser lenses of your ODD may also improve disk read performance.

ok,

thanks for all the help,
I'm a linux guy and mostly use linux, however I still have to use windows for most games. I'll check the site again and get an md5sum or equivalent and check the download and then check the burn before I try installing again. I will also clean my ODD. thanks again....

Fixed. Duh. For me a bad burn on a cd/ DVD has been a very rare occu
Occurrance that I overlooked that completely Linux supplies md5sum so I'm always. Checking files
