Hey guys been racking my brain on how to disable on board graphics I have gone in to divice manager and tried to disable intel graphics and after I did that nvidia control panel will not open tells me there is no display attached. Did an uninstall of all drivers for both intel and nvidia. Rebooted and then intel was back and nvidia was not so I went ahead and disabled and uninstalled the intel graphics again And installed nvidia drivers again. Still nothing kinda pissing me off any input is greatly appreciated. Also the lap top is a GL753V-DS71 thank you for any help ahead of time*

You can't disable the Intel graphics. For Optimus enabled systems, the Nvidia GPU kind of works as a middle man. It handles the heavy lifting in 3d and full screen applications, but it doesn't actually handle the display output. Rather it renders the frames and passes it along to the Intel GPU for output. For non intensive applications, and for typical desktop work, the iGPU handles it. If there are specific programs that you wan the Nvidia GPU to handle, you can tell the Nvidia GPU to do so through the Nvidia control panel.

But yeah, you can't disable the iGPU. Is the iGPU trying to handle games and you are getting poor performance? Or is there some other reason you are trying to disable the iGPU?

Feels like I am missing some GPU power in games like BD online and PUBG and fall out 4 as well as skyrim.*

What type of framerates are you getting in said games and at what settings? Because Fallout 4 and PUBG are both pretty terribly optimized games. They chug a bit in places even on really high end systems. And is it standard Skyrim or the remastered?

I mean realistically those games (except maybe Skyrim if it was the vanilla Skyrim at pretty low settings and resolution) would be completely unplayable on the iGPU.

Update installed driver booster and updated all drivers and bingo back in business! frame rates went up put a little OC on the 1050. PUBG is a hell of a lot better fall out is way better. i optimized them both pretty well and major difference!

Now for my M.2 card. whats my best bet for a 256 or am i better off going to 500 and so may different types PCIe(NVMe) SSD and Sata SSD whats my best bet?

also can i substitute my dvdrom drive for a hhd caddy for a SSD as well or is that not an option.

New poster, and apologies for hijacking the thread, but have the same question, re m.2 card. I've been reading about varying reports about using an NVMe drive as the boot drive. Anyone had any success with installing an NVMe drive and it functioning as a boot drive. NVMe would be preferred over Sata due to the speed gain.

So, i couldn't find much on this so I just decided to do it, I installed the m.2 SSD then took the HDD that comes with it out, I plugged in the USB flashdrive with windows on it and it installed automatically. It was pretty easy, I then plugged in the HDD again and erased it, then it was all good to go, the m.2 SSD is now my boot drive. Any more q's feel free to DM me.

Hey, cheers for that. Can you maybe share which m.2 SSD you picked up.

So it seems you did a clean install, rather than a clone of the HDD onto the m.2.

I used a Samsung 960 evo 500 gb m.2

Awesome, thanks, was thinking of getting that, but the 250GB model.
