Crucial MX300 1TB M.2 - ASUS GL702VM - Compatible Or Not?

Hi,
Just wondering if the following M.2 SSD drive should be avoided or not?

I own the Asus GL702VM Laptop.

Loving it to bits. Was thinking of upgrading the ram to 32GB. However since coming across this 1TB SSD M.2 ... I am very interested as it's very affordable and I beleive the extra caching space for Adobe After Effects would benefit more than the extra ram at this point.

Here is the Ram in question: MX300 M.2 1TB
https://www.bit-tech.net/reviews/tech/storage/crucial-mx300-review/1/

I note there is no mention of 4X ... is this a slow version of the one Asus is already installed in my laptop? I wonder if the speed would be that noticlble as I really want the space if the performance difference is not much.

Thoughts anyone?

OH YEA ... one last question. I read somewhere that someone was told ... there is TWO M.2 slots in his laptop? Would this be the case for the Asus GL702VM??? That would be perfect for my needs!!! A dedicated cache drive!!!!

I just contacted Asus Technical Support ... here's hoping they confirm the MX300 M.2 1TB is compatible. 🙂

Just to complicate things ... 🙂
What about this:

Samsung PM961 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD cheaper than 960 EVO 1024GB

Link → Samsung PM961 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD

I know it's not the EVO ... but would you rate this worth buying over the Crucial MX300 1TB M.2 SSD ?

... and how much better is the 960 EVO overthe PM961?

The Sequential Read/writes will tell you. at about 550MB/s you are sitting on a Sata bus. If the drive was running on the PCI-X bus, you'd see 1500-2000MB/s read/write depending on the drive.

So it's compatible?

But **** loads slower.

I don't mind the extra space ... but not when you put it like that.

Thanks for the response.

Might go the Samsung 960 EVO 500GB.
