CMOS battery location on Rog Stix Scar II

I have the GL704W and can't see to find CMOS battery after opening the bottom cover. Searching google and the foums turn up nothing. There is an outline however that seems to be where a cmos battery should be (see pic), but its empty, so Im not sure what to think right now. Does anyone have any insight if this is how these laptops are or where the battery is really located? Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

The CMOS battery usually is connected via 2 wires to a small plastic plug - maybe the wires near your blue arrow are the ones going to the battery which seems to be underneath the black object held with 2 screws/washers. In my Zenbook the battery is enclosed in a heat shrink cover around that area (but not buried like yours).

Looking again this black object could be a speaker as there is one tother side. I hate to think the battery is on the other side of the motherboard pc under the outline you refer to. Hopefully some body else will advise better.

you're in the right spot. as you can see in the 1st pic. my 704gm its there under the black tape, straight from ASUS. I have been researching this myself because my bios got locked after windows snuck the 309 bios in on me, happened a month after my warranty expired too! ASUS told me $90.00 plus shipping just to open the back cover blah blah blah really didn't hear a dam thing the dude said after $90...screw that . I was looking for a way to bypass/break/hack whatever . even looked into replacing the bios chip if need be .. wasn't urgent i just couldn't do anything in the bios but look around and windows was fine so i had time to get some backup plan in place.
i got lucky apparently having the plug .. i was able to reset doing the unplug bat, cmos bat, hold power button to drain and for extra held power for 60 seconds on boot which made it loop 4xs .
the 2nd pic is the under of a GW.. i also heard that if not on top it was there (supposedly embedded??) but hell if i can see it.

Hi. I got into the same situation looking for a CMOS battery in my GL74GW. I need to reset the bios ADMIN password. But I can't find information about it anywhere, and ASUS support doesn't want to help me.

Tell me, how did you solve your question?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hello. This helped to reset the cmos (the date was reset to default inside the bios) But this does not help to remove the BIOS Administrator password, and the ALT + R command does not work for entering the master password.

Are there any other options for resetting the bios admin password?

Sorry if i'm a little late. was over over the road with no net. If your still under warranty it would be easiest to send it and let the tech guys that swear there is no special bios code they use to access and reset bios have it. if not then i can try and locate the spare drive i stored all the info i dug up on. no guarantees but id be happy to try to help you out. 🙂
