Choppy Framerates in most if not all games. (G74sx a1)

Hello everyone

I've had my g74sx laptop since August of 2010 and never had a problem with frame rates in any game. In the past week I noticed choppy frame rates in mass effect 3, Dragon Age: Origins, Battlefield 3 (singleplayer) and whatnot. From what I can tell my computer hasn't overheated and I am using the high performance power4gear.


It worries me that the laptop is presenting this problem with only 8 months of use. I am downloading the 296.10 notebook driver from nvidia again (since apparently It only downloaded the 3-D part >.>) as I type this.

What could be the possible reasons of the choppy framerate?

Are you running Throttlestop as seen in this thread? It explains the problem and the cure.

(ROG has simply become too expensive compared to the competition with same specs... 😞 )

When was the last time you updated the driver? If it was about the same time as the choppiness it wouldn't surprise me as people have been having problems with the latest driver.
