Can upgrading RAM damage the Motherboard?

So I got my motherboard replaced in my Asus Rog Strix G15 model. During the RMA, they said one RAM is faulty and told me to buy a new one. So I thought of upgrading my RAM from 2 x 8GB sticks to 2 x 16gb. I bought Crucial RAM that is compatible with my laptop. I gave the RAM to the service centre guy. Then he said that after installing RAM, it short circuited the Motherboard and now they have to order a new motherboard as it is under warranty. He also told me to return or replace the RAM as it short circuited the Motherboard. When i asked did you use anti static and everything while installing RAM, he said yes everything was taken care of. Also there is no refund or replacement available as I ordered from Amazon.
