So I just bought a new laptop and when I go to set it up it starts up to a black screen. You can hear it boot up and the keyboard lights up. I was able to get an external monitor working to go through setup, driver updates, windows updates, BIOS update, brightness settings, and poked around with the device manager and power settings. I did hard resets over and over by disconnecting, holding power for 40 seconds, reconnecting, and turning back on. Nothing seems to work to get the integrated monitor working. If I take a bright flashlight though, I can see that the screen is showing things, but the backlight is not turning on to make them visible.
I’m hoping others have some experience here and might be able to help. I’m still within the return window for sending it back to Amazon, or I can take my chances with the RMA warranty stuff. My fear is that the warranty is limiting and won’t replace it if it is beyond repair, and by then it would be too late to return to Amazon. I would have paid $2000 for a refurbished laptop with possible longer term issues. It might be a bigger issue than the screen with issues with the motherboard or GPU, which I don’t know of that would be covered or not either. If I return then I lose the prime day discount, which would probably mean I end up not buying a replacement. Any thoughts or recommendations?
