Asus Strix SCAR 18 (2024) complete system micro stutter

I will make this short as there is no other way to explain it. Once every hour or less, my entire system stutters, audio, mouse, display, keyboard. This stutter has the capability of disconnecting any bluetooth device i have connected as well.

I reapplied the LM and changed out the thermal putty, my temps are fine so it isnt thermal throttling as far as im aware, but for the amount I paid for this, I am really hoping this isn't a hardware issue.

my specs are
4080
14900HX
32GB 5600 CL40 kingston
wifi 7 intel be200 320mhz
samsung 2tb, sk hynix p801 1tb
mini LED screen 1600p

Could i get some help?

Reinstall the Nvidia drivers (clean install)

I've reinstalled the Nvidia drivers through safe mode, DDU, and then reinstalled with the newest available drivers, but still nothing, the stutter still is there

Specs for this are wifi 6 according to the ASUS site, did you change the wifi card to a wifi 7 one? And if so perhaps this is causing the issues?

This could be possible, it came with wifi 6e, but I didn't know Wi-Fi incompatibility could do that. I'll open it up soon and swap back to the old wifi. How can I completely get rid of the old wifi 7 drivers?

I have swapped back to the original wifi 6e card, but the stutter is still apparent. all old wifi drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled the new ones, along with any old unused drivers.

Any other solutions?

Here is everything I tried that has the possibility of fixing the stutter problem:

  • All background apps disabled even office
  • uninstalled Armoury Crate, downloaded GHelper
  • Removed old drivers using DriverStoreExplorer
  • DDU for NVIDIA and Intel drivers
  • reinstallation of all drivers from website
  • running NVIDIA 576.15 drivers (fixed gpu temperature monitor)
  • Changing CPU usage in power plan (nothing)
  • disabling any undervolt/overclock (no help)
  • running OCCT CPU/RAM stability test (came back clean)
  • sfc /scannow in command(admin)
  • checking for errors or warnings in event viewer (no WHEA Logs)
  • replacing unsupported wifi 7 card with previous wifi 6e card

None of that worked. I scrolled through countless forums, and one of the last things I hadn't tried before completely reinstalling windows through USB stick was this:
run command prompt in (Run as Admin) mode, then run these commands in this order:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup (cleans out old update files, improves storage capacity, and prepares for next command)
DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (scans each individual Windows file, compares it to a clean one, and if corrupt, replaces it with a clean one)
sfc /scannow (checks all the files over one last time, is pretty old and unreliable today though, not necessary
    )

This command was the final solution to my issue. I assume my unstable overclocking I did with GHelper, Throttlestop undervolting, and/or Windows Updates must've corrupted some of the windows files at some point, I am very glad that my hardware was not the issue, I did not want to RMA after I had completely redone the Thermal Putty and Liquid Metal.

I hope I can help anyone else running into this problem.

Edit: The stuttering has reappeared 7 hours later, so I am resorting to reinstalling windows.

Will wait for your update but out of interest how hot are the other parts running, like SSD, RAM and PCH / VR?

And with 2 nvme drives maybe the OS drive is failing, install OS on the other for testing / remove one?

CPU: 46C
PCH: 47C
VR: 39C
RAM: 36C
990 PRO 2TB: 33C
PC801 1TB: 37C
This is when idling, eco mode CPU only, would you like with GPU enabled stats as well?
