Asus Rog Strix Scar G865LX (2025) game crashing issue

Hello,
I’ve been using the G835LX model for 2 weeks. In the beginning, I was getting DirectX12 errors in games. I used DDU to uninstall and reinstall the GPU drivers several times, but the errors persisted. Later, I reinstalled Windows, and the DirectX12 issue was mostly resolved. However, in some games, when the GPU is in Ultimate mode, the games freeze and crash. When I checked the Event Viewer, I noticed the "nvlddmkm" error. Interestingly, when I play in Standard mode, the games don’t crash. I hope a BIOS update addressing this issue will be released soon. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have my  G835LX from several days and same problem observed here. When on NVIDIA GPU only and ultimate mode - constantly crashing the games and I have directly black screen - only hard reset is saving me. When I switch to opitmus with Optimized performance mode - no more crushes. I also try to install latest Nvidia driver 576.72 - which claim to fix problem with lower TDP - supose to become as advertised up to 175W fro GPU. Unfortunatelly with this one the crashes was even more bad. Finally I reinstall again driver from ASUS and for the moment I can use it only on mode Optimize and optimus on. I hope that this is not a problem with machine and it is simply driver problem, but I am not 100% sure. MAx power for GPU, what i saw during playing games is 145W.

Right now i am using optimus with turbo mode for gaming and i do not have a problem. But when i changed the only NVIDIA GPU problem still occur. I think this is a driver issue or bios. Because when i check the event viewer it gave DirectX12 Error.

SAME HERE! I am using a G835LX-XS97 ROG Strix Scar 18 and crash exclusively on dedicated gpu/armoury crate ultimate mode!

EDIT: Optimus works only! It might be driver related if you go to event viewer, and after a crash there will be a round red button shape with a cross and say:
Nvlddmkm.sys Error 153
Do you get this as well?

I also expirienced problem with SDR and HDR - into the panel for chosing multizone SDR or one zone - is not active at all, no matter what mode you try. DO you have something similar as well? HDR stays permanently on.

You can not change multizone settings on HDR mode. But if you can not change in SDR mode too. Maybe you should install OS again.

Had the same issue..
found out there is YET another setting in win11 that can cause this:

Try:
select the "Color management" tab (or section), where you will see:

  • Color profiles

  • And the setting: "Automatically manage color for apps" (toggle switch) -- OFF

check if you haven't changed the color depth to 10, these settings or others in the iGPU and dGPU graphics cause this

Check this setting,, It drove me mad, as HDR was stuck although it was off .. this color management setting in win11, it took ages till I found out..

  • Open Settings (Win + I).

  • Go to System > Display.

  • Scroll down and click on Advanced display (or just Advanced in some versions).

  • Click on Color management.

  • Then select the "Color management" tab (or section), where you will see:

    • Color profiles

    • And the setting: "Automatically manage color for apps" (toggle switch) -- OFF

I experienced a lof of such today, playing other games ( probably not using dx11)

This happens after like 2 minutes of blackscreen and then the display returning with CTD with that message.
This is a "positive" scenario .. in the negative one I have to force restart the notebook.
I guess the signal Integrity with PCIe5 is not good, causing such random disconnects with gpu?

Am using Asus newest driver btw:  Graphic_DCH_ROG_NVIDIA_X_V32.0.15.7324_43746
