Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 G834JY Micro stutters and freezes

In general, let's start from the very beginning. I recently bought this laptop for myself and began to notice problems in many games with microfreezes and instability. I myself have already contacted the sales store and Asus employees, this is what I can say. I'm still thinking whether to take my laptop in for service or not.

Let me note right away that I used both Turbo\Max and Turbo\Standard modes.

Honestly, I'm paranoid about technology and maybe that's my insanity.

I tried all the methods and options for solving problems and I will list all the options here separately and the sources (maybe this will help you)

1. Banal reinstallation or restoration of Windows 11 :

Everything was simple here, I went to system > recovery > Restore the computer to its original state. After that, I reinstalled the video card drivers, but before that I removed the old ones using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). Then a full update to Win 11 and Armory Crate.

In the video driver settings I changed two parameters:

Power Management Mode – Max. Performance

Low Latency Mode - Enabled

Did it help?  - it didn’t help (who would doubt it)

2. Removing AutoConnectHelper as the original source of problems

3. Restore the system in BIOS.

When I was looking for different options, I started studying the BIOS and found a recovery option there. I note that this is long, but I was forced to decide on this, since I was a fool and decided to try Win 10 and it was a terrible option. Then everything is the same as in the first point, but without reinstalling the video card drivers

4. Let's play with nvidia settings

I don’t remember where exactly, but I found this solution:

Power Management Mode - Max. Performance
Low Latency Mode - On
Preferred Refresh Rate - Highest Available
Stream Optimization - Off

G-Sync - OFF

It can thermal throttle on individual P-Cores. I checked in hwinfo and the thermal throttle indicator while gaming was almost always in "Yes", also the temperature redings registered max temperatures up to 106ºC in my case. I recommend you (if you didn't have already) to start HWinfo an let it recording while you game and then check it to see if it has thermal throttled and in which cores.

Each game uses the CPU in different ways, so it can work well in some games that don't require a very fast CPU performance, also increasing fps increases the load on the CPU because it has to process more frames to send to the GPU, if it throttles and cant't keep up it may skip a frame or more and so the GPU has to use buffered frames but if there isn't any then it waits for another one to come, this produces a spike in the frametime, if it is big enough it will make the framerate drop, causing a stutter. Having less frames to proccess can reduce or even avoid completely the stutter for some games.

But this is a little different stutter because there's any big fps drop, just little drops if we can say and the stutter still is yet visible, mostly in vr. Temps below 90°/95° in game  shouldn't trigger any thermal throttling, even if hwinfo says that a core is thermal-throttling.. because at 100° is when it happens. Yea in your case temps was pretty high and definitely got more than 100°
