Asus ROG Strix SCAR 18 2025 - SSD and Memory Upgrade

Hello to everyone

I have bought recently an Asus Rog Stix DCAR 18 (2025) top specs and i want to upgrade the existing SSD (WD) with a Crucial T705 Gen 5 for a better performace and a pair of Corsair Vengenance memory. I have made the recovery disk and installed the new SSD but when i try to recover something goes wrong and the process vot be finalized. What can i do? Maybe to install the Gen 5 SSD in the free slot and to try to recover there or what is the problem? I was thinking that is some limitations.

Hello

Thank you for your reply. My laptop had just one SSD. I have swap it with a Crucial T705 2TB and i have solved the problem with the cloud recovery option from bios. Now i look for a better memory than Corsair to change memory too.

Then you should check some csodimm or cudimm ask support or rog fans for compatibility not all modules can be fully detected and check bios version and if you update bios remember that asus do not allow bios version downgrade
always write model version of your notebook is few of them and all are rog strix scar g18 2025

I wouldn't bother with a gen5 ssd. I tried about 3 before settling on a 4tb 990 pro gen4.

Reason is the gen 5 run too hot. Thermal throttle as soon as you do anything. No room for a heatsink in there either.

Thank you for your info. Seems that what you said happened to me right a few days ago. When i was copying something to my Gen 5 SSD the laptop freezed and restarted. I will install my 990 Pro as primary disk
