Got this laptop last June 15 and I noticed that when using Ultimate in GPU mode in the Armoury Crate, games are stuttering really hard to the point that it's unplayable. They're also have lower FPS when the stuttering isn't happening. One of the things I noticed it that the GPU usage fluctuates between 50-99%.
The stuttering disappears once I use Standar in GPU mode which allows me to enable advanced optimus in the nvidia control panel, but that mode is busted too because I can't control the brightness level, the screen's brightness overly bright and it hurst my eye, and my display settings are detecting 2 monitors. So I'm avoiding that mode for now too.
Games which I've obeserved the stuttering:
I've yet to test other GPU intensive games, but so far the stuttering isn't present in games like DoTA2, Valorant or other non GPU intensive titles. I've tried using the recommended Nvidia drivers from the device's support page and clean installed my GPU drivers using DDU. I also tried fresh reinstalling windows but still nothing. I don't wanna update my BIOS though cause there seems to be an issue with ASUS laptops in updating the BIOS.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Worth noting: Bios 321 is out
My stutter issue has been dormant for a few days now. Everything is running as intended.
Rolling back drivers helped. I did a clean install using the Asus drivers and then installed the latest NV drivers.. GPU drivers can get messy. Sometimes you have to start from scratch using the OEM drivers.. NV releases so many game ready drivers. It can ready muddy up the waters; much like Bios updates, only update if there is something wrong or a crucial feature that you need. I'm going to follow my own advice and not update my drivers again unless it's for a specific game.
My warranty window is March 2024. I'll continue to test and monitor the laptop behavior. I have a gaming PC, but I'm going to push my Scar as hard as possible before my warranty is up. The laptop costs way too much to out up with these issues. I don't blame anyone for doing an RMA.

Thanks for heads up on the bios update. I'll flash it today and see what happens.
Never had gpu driver issues ever like this before.

what ever bios 321 did, its not fixed the ReBar issue anyway, still there in full force.

Same model and Same issue here. Micro stutters on video (Offline, Streaming) also gameplay (RDR2 and CP2077). Never had this when I picked it up after launch. I'm glad I found this thread and can't wait to see this getting resolved. Drives me crazy.
One more thing I wanted to highlight is that I get a weird buzzer sound when I scroll down extremely fast through a webpage. Assuming this is from the GPU as well. Anyone facing similar issue?

That buzzing sound is coil whine, pretty much every device has it to some point. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Hello everyone,
I have a G634JY NM001W Scar 16 GPU:4090 CPU:i913980HX Biosversion:321
However, I have the same problem with non-resizing games like Farcry 6.
I checked and monitored everything.
Stuttering was found to be active in Ultimate Mode and Standard Mode (Nvidia GPU only).
The stuttering is also there in Modern Warfare 3 in Optiumus mode!
No matter what graphics preset you use and no matter what mode in Armory Crate it stutters!
The stuttering occurs every 8-9 seconds, you can clearly see it in Armory Crate's FPS resource monitor, and you can also see that the GPU usage skyrockets with each stutter!
Greetings from Germany,
Martin

Hi there, first thing to try is a GPU driver clean and reinstall. Use DDU uninstaller to remove the driver then grab the latest driver from Nvidia and give it another go.

Hello, I tried that before your answer and it didn't help. I just installed Modern Warfare 2 again and definitely have no dropouts (stuttering) either on DGPU only or in Optimus mode.

Here you can see the dropouts or the stuttering.

Wow that is pretty bad. I have MW2 on battle.net so I will install it tonight and have a look.
